Good, yes. I'd go as far as to say they're better for gaming than the 6xx.

With that said, they make the 6xx sound exciting and that's hard to do. These are extremely neutral. They're a bit harsh on the top end for me but they're still great. I used them as my main set until I got Focal Clears. Now I use them with my PS5.

Edit: As for open vs closed back, open back is better for gaming. Much wider soundstage, less overpowering bass usually. Better for footsteps, vocals, etc. However sound leakage is a consideration. It's not enough to transmit through a mic(I've tested dynamic and condenser) but it is noticeable to others in a room with you.
Fine for gaming but these are open-back, so everyone around will hear everything you hear almost as clearly
What are you doing to your headphones? I've had my 598 for 5 years now, and they have the same exact connector from the looks of it. I've dropped these more times than I can count from desk height, and the same cord is still going strong.

Also the replacement cable, should you ever need one, is $10 on amazon. That isn't expensive, and the stock ones are durable as hell from my experience.

How does it compare to the HD 560S and Philips X2/27 Fidelio Headphones people mentioned here?
The tygr 300r would be a complete replacement of the X2s in my opinion so i would take the X2 out.
The question becomes which one is better for you: HD560s or TYGR 300r.
With the tygr you gain the bass extension , better build quality,, better comfort and the V shape sound that some prefer.
With the HD560s you gain better mids, detachable cord unlike the Tygr's attached cord, and a neutral sound that some prefer.
I didnt notice much of a difference besides what i just mentioned but again...my subjective opinion. You could nitpick at soundstage, detail retrieval but tbh they are both very close.
So....laugh out loud take your pick. Ive owned all 3 headphones.
The best thing about either one is that they are so good, you would need to step up pretty high up the price ladder to get something better in most/all aspects

At 120 ohms you'll want to use an amp or sound card with these. You will have to turn the volume up very loud to try and drive these at normal levels with how they're "supposed" to sound. I would not get these for console use.

You must listen at very high volumes. I have mine sitting next to me and sometimes play games with them off and I can't hear the game.

My comparison was to the HD58x/H6xx not the HD598

There are alot of little issues with the HD560s that make it far from the best headphone

One I forgot to mention is the twist lock cable

On HD58x/H6XX if the headphones become tangled / trip / snag - the connectors will come loose from either ear cup.

On this HD560s the cable will snag and either damage the input hole or destroy the cable.

Another problem (or could be a pro) is that the cable is 10 ft long instead of the 6 ft long cable found on the aforementioned models.

Sennheiser does NOT sell a shorter cable and the shorter cable available online (Amazon/other stores) is not the same impedance and destroy the sound signature changing the sound significantly
You must have amazing hearing because I've tried 4 or 5 different cables with mine and I can't tell any difference.

Why not? The Soundblasterx G6 connects to any console and has the power to push these even in low gain.

There really is no point in trying 4 or 5 different 3rd party cables when Sennheiser sells a 1.2m 3.5mm cable for $15-18 with free shipping.

They even have one with a microphone attached as well.

Why use cables with different impedences / 3rd party accessories when the official manufacturer makes cables ready to order for at most $1-2 more?

He doesnt know what he is talking about.

Both Xbox Series X / PS5 Dualsense controllers have plenty of enough power to drive these headphones.

If you have to get a DAC/AMP avoid the SoundBlaster G6 - spend a bit more for a Zen Dac V2 or a Hel 2 DAC/AMP both of which are compatible with both the Series X/PS5

Id try to run them first right off the headphones to possibly save yourself an additional $150-200

Because I wanted to try different ones. Plus I hate the rubber sennheiser cable. Also the fact that the sennheiser cables don't last a month or 2 for my daughter. The 3rd party cables at least last 6 months or so.

Excellent reviews already, but I also want to point out for fellow giant ear havers that these are really amazingly comfortable. My ears are big enough that even with the VModa over ear extra large cups, it was still basically on ear for me, but this pair fits around my ears and feel fantastic, so I don't have to take as many breaks if I'm hunkering down for a while. Then, as everyone else has said, soundstage is excellent!
I agree with this feedback.

I have an extremely large noggin and I was worried about clamping force. The 560S are super comfortable even for large heads. Way more comfortable than the audio technicas, logitechs, steelseries and hyper x gaming headphones.

I had the 599SE but sold those and kept these instead. Those were good too but not nearly as neutral aka accurate

Can you give us link to a site/page where the 1.2m cable can be purchased for around that price? This page seems to have a permanent OOS notice-

https://spares.s-consumer.com/en-...art/572274

The only available source I've been able to find is some outfit called "audio equip" that sells them through Amazon and Ebay for $28.

You know what you're talking about? Xbox and PS5 controllers don't have near the power to sufficiently power 120ohm headphones. Maybe 32ohm headphones but definitely not 120ohms.

On the Hel2 and Zen, can you set up EQs on the PS5 and Xbox with them? No? You can with the soundblaster. You can set up an EQ to increase the frequencies that footsteps are at and the Soundblaster can power the hungry AKG K712 Pro headphones sufficiently for gaming.

So much bad advice from someone that probably doesn't even own decent headphones or amps or dacs.

I got the deal yesterday and my 560s were delivered this morning. I can confirm these sound perfectly fine and far loud enough on an XBOX one s controller from the PC wireless dongle. My motherboard's on board audio sounds a bit better for music(aorus z590 elite), but who cares if you're playing a game.

560S has higher sensitivity so even at 120 ohm it is relatively easy to drive.
