I was just at Costco to see the U6G, but it had a kind of persistent motion stutter whereas a 50" R7 right near it did not. Exact same demo program. So I'm not sure whether hardware or software but R7 may have one thing going for it.

I just bought the 50" a week ago, which I'll exchange for this. Solid bedroom tv. Not good in a bright room and the viewing angle is very narrow. If you have it at the foot of your bed with no overhead light, it's a good deal

If anyone comes across any calibration settings for this tv, please share. .

Optimized Picture Settings
Picture mode: MOVIE
Aspect Ratio: Direct
Contrast: 99
Brightness: 52
Gamma: 2.4 (via Roku app)
Color: 47
Tint: 2
Sharpness: 0
Color temperature : WARM
Backlight: 100
TV Brightness: Brighter
Noise Reduction: Off (via Roku app)

Noise Reduction and Gamma: These settings are not in the TV menu. To adjust them, first
install the Roku Mobile App on an iOS or Android smartphone. All other settings should be set to "off" or zero "0". Any individual R, G, or B color sub-controls, if present, should remain at their default settings.

Bought one early for $360. I'll take my receipt back after March 9 and ask for a refund on the difference.

Coming from a much smaller TV, I can't compare with other HDTV. I'm happy with the picture quality. And with mixed evaluations of the U6GR model in the other thread, I'd rather save the $100.

Sound is loud but tinny. This seems common to TV's nowadays. Connected it to a sound bar. Setup was easy. It detected devices and OTA channels. The signal is good with my cheap indoor antennae.

The only annoyance was that, for live TV, they add dozens of extra channels that are just internet channels -- available to anyone who wants to add them through the regular Roku menu. It's easy enough to disable those, though.

People say "Get a U6GR," but after looking at them side by side at Costco, I got the R7G. They're both VA panels, both 60Hz panels with VRR, and the extra $100 didn't seem to make a noticeable difference. (Some of the $900+ sets were obviously better.)

The U6GR doesn't properly upscale 480p, which matters if you still watch DVDs, play older consoles, or have SD cable. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u6gr

If you still prefer the U6GR5, it's on sale for $400 for another couple days.

Does anyone have experience with the 43in version? Currently it is on sale for 270. Considering it for mainly a computer monitor, VRR support is tempting but can't find any information on the panel type, subpixel layout, chroma etc. Rtings does not appear to have a review nor this info. Thanks!

Doesn't necessarily apply to Costco, but I was told by someone who worked at Target that they intentionally downgraded video signals and/or settings to upsale the customer to the TV's they wanted to move.

Of course, ages-old trick. But the worst of them was a big ol regular price LG (cringy screen tearing), with presumably a much higher sales margin than the promo $400 Hisense, so I'm reasonably confident. Plus, steer the customers to the cheapest unit? Don't know that it makes sense.

The android version slow to a crawl and are way more buggy than the Roku ones Frown
