I read that you can't simply flop this in your PS5 without a heat sink?

This won't work in PS5 at all as it is Gen3, not Gen4.

Great deal, though, on a fast, reliable NVMe SSD by a reputable brand.

It says Gen 3 x4 - what does that indicate?

It means this is the 3rd generation of this type of drive and the x4 is an indication of bandwidth.

It means it's gen 3 pci-e. The "x4" I believe means 4 Lane pci? Someone correct me on that...

Either way, I have this same exact drive I paid the same exact price for in November as my OS drive for my PC running at pci-e 3 and it's very fast. Thinking about picking up a second one..

It's recommended that you have a heat sink but not a requirement.

Grabbed one. Thanks. Price is pretty good right now. Debating on grabbing a second since I know I am going to need one in a couple months.

Is this better or the Samsung 980 or the 970 Refurb from Bestbuy recently?

Thanks

does this one have DRAM so you won't lose data during power outage?

You're more likely to have corruption if you have SSD with DRAM during power outage. HMB has matured and with systems having 8GB+ RAM. We're in a different paradigm.
