I have both 75" versions of this TV.

I bought the newer version first, and mounted it in a game room that always has daylight or lights on when watching. The picture is amazing, and I had no idea it was IPS/ADS until I read all the online debates. So I shut off the lights and ran tests in the dark. In that environment, blacks are very dark on most YouTube test videos because of the local dimming, but dark real content (Expanse, Witcher, etc.) reveals that the blacks aren't inky, and the movie bars are visible.

We wanted another 75 for our movie room, which is almost always dark when we're watching TV, so I looked for, and found, and original VA version. That picture is also amazing, and has inky blacks when the lights are off, with movie bars that disappear.

(I also verified the panel types with pixel pictures.)

For most content, the difference in the blacks between the two isn't noticeable, especially during the day or with lights on. As expected, the original VA panel is better if viewing dark content from a dark room, and the newer IPS/ADS version has slightly better viewing angles.

I do have different backlight levels set: on the newer ADS version I have backlight at 12 (like Rtings.com), and on the original VA version I have backlight set to 37 (like CR), both with auto-dim enabled.

Settings on these TVs have to be tuned to get a great picture; the defaults aren't good. Rtings.com has good suggestions that work for both versions.

The 2 boxes they came in look identical. The only difference on the outside is the serial number sticker - no manufacture date or version info. The backs of the 2 TVs look completely different, but the boxes need to be opened to see them. There are pictures posted on Best Buy (reviews), along with details.

Note that the 75" model has come in both VA and IPS version. The assumption is that most of the recent ones are IPS. The rtings rating is for a VA 65" so is not completely valid for a IPS 75".

Nevertheless, for a 75" with local dimming, this is about the cheapest you will find.

This A6G series is $90 cheaper. Not sure if the two are different or similar enough to warrant the price difference... https://www.amazon.com/Hisense-75...K9W9S?th=1

A6G is not nearly as bright, has no local dimming and lacks the QLED display of U6G.

If you want the size difference yes. You'll lose out on some gaming features so keep that in mind.

Well the U7G has better motion due to 120 hz panel, is brighter than U6G and is guaranteed VA panel, vs maybe getting IPS with this one. Not to mention gaming advantages. Whether that is worth giving up for more size is up to you.

No unless you need a 75in. This is IPS and the blacks are gray.

Ok I am all over the place. I literally have two TVs and debating. Anyone with opinion feel free to share. I need help to decide. I have this u765 which was 599 plus tax or I got on a Costco deal recently which was for a Samsung Q8BA which I thought was a amazing price of I forget but like 1850 with tax but I will be getting $900 in Costco gift cards in 6 weeks. That is a 75 of course but my plan was that tv in family room we have some up to 85 and this 65 Hisense in bedroom. I normally buy from my family as in the electronics business and I can get Sony or Samsung at wholesale. I didn't look this time as I thought these were steals. Any other suggestion for a Sony or Samsung. For the bedroom thinking this hisense will be way better than like a Samsung q6. For the family room not sure on this 75 Costco Samsung. Sold quick with gift card but mixed reviews. Anyone have any feedback?

This TV got more attention a month ago when it was $100 more. SDers are an odd lot.

The 65" U6G model drops to $550 when it goes on sale: https://urlhasbeenblocked/product...rice_watch

But if you're going to spend $800 on a TV, I'd probably get a higher end 65" for a little more. It'll look a lot better.

Looks like a good deal for a well reviewed 75 inch tv with local dimming. As long as you are ok skipping 120hz display and eARC, this seems like a no brainer.
