Not .. exactly. It depends on what type of burr your unit comes with. Crono/Filtro series have been known to have the possibility of being shipped with their Mignon espresso burr or their new filter coffee burr depending on when the unit was made (newer units have the filter burrs now). However, it is a very easy swap if you want to switch to an espresso burr, and the OEM 50mm espresso burr cost about 33 bucks on Amazon.

The Mignon series grinders that uses 50mm flat burr all have same interior, same motor, and same step-less dial design. They differ mainly on exterior build and feats. Internally, this is basically the same as silenzio and notte, all of which are espresso capable. They don't have significant change in grind quality until you really step up and get a bigger burr unit such as Specialitia.

That said, this grinder is absolutely the cheapest step-less dial espresso capable grinder you will ever find in the market. (for example, Breville Smart Grinder cost about the same, but is stepped). I have the crono and swapped in the espresso burr, creates very consistent and fluffy grind, minimal channeling (none if I prep well that morning) when pulling shots with a bottomless PF from Gaggia Classic Pro, and it's just incredible value for how much this cost.

This thing (and I don't have one as good as this, I have an old school Starbucks windup grinder) is considered an extreme budget grinder for coffee enthusiasts.

It's like a $2000 pair of speakers. The majority of the population will never consider spending that much money on a pair of speakers, while audiophiles will consider something in that price range to be in the "budget speaker" class.

EDIT: apparently the older version of this grinder comes with the same burrs as the espresso specific models, and the Seattle Coffee Gear people have confirmed it's the older version they're selling... might be worth the gamble. I imagine if you buy from Amazon hoping for the espresso burrs and get the drip burrs then you can probably return it easily, or order the espresso burrs separately.

I asked seattlecoffeegear.com chat support if this 2020 model came with the OEM espresso burr grinders and I was told it did. So no need to buy extra espresso burr grinders.

I have this and really like it. Build quality is great and in my opinion a step over the baratza virtuoso+. My one complaint is you can't just hold and grind for a little more. Each grind is based off the timing mechanism.

I will note I bought it for $10 less in December 2020, so it might come cheaper, but if you need it it's still a good value.

I have this grinder as well as a specialita. Both work beautifully for espresso. This one is much louder than the specialita $800) but the grind is comparable. I wish you could tap the button to start AND stop, like on the specialita, but I have to use the power switch if I want to end a grind early.
This is the highest quality grinder you'll find for espresso at less than about $500. It's a steal.
