Just because it has not happened to you doesn't mean that it can't happen. For some it's a deal breaker. Knowing that they could switch you to digital version without notice or refund is important information.

It happens to me to 1 out of 3 active subscriptions.

It probably just me who still prefer consuming printed materials on real paper rather than digital format.

Yes. They do sell your info 100% I subscribed to a few using the name of "magazine subscriber" and I now get junk mail with that name.

Thanks for mentioning this. I ordered Outdoor Photography from them and received a notice stating they switched to a digital subscription before I ever received an issue. I didn't want a digital subscription. I ended up getting nothing from them with no refund.

I picked up a subscription to 'Inside' magazine, it's for people who don't like to leave the house. It has lots of tips on how to properly black out the light coming in from the windows and things to watch on tv.
