Flimsy wheels and low to no traction. Probably good for outdoor roads/walkways.

I have done two of these builds so far one on a 12v jeep and another on a 6v Dodge Viper. I'm currently adding lights to the viper. Very easy to do. I run dewalt batteries so I use the usb dewalt power source. I just checked Amazon on the one I bought and it was not listed anymore… maybe a supply chain issue?
Perhaps a dumb question but what does the knob control? Amps?

It seems the output side auto detects the voltage needed? Confused

6V is usually not interesting enough for kids older than 3 years. They suddenly turn into daredevils that need to skid etc. So, need a 12V that's light. Before you buy new, try something from FB marketplace to see if it interests your kid.
The fancy doors are only for us adults. Kids are imaginative enough to classify the door mechanism as trivial. So, focus on things they cannot easily imagine - anything like speed that thrills them. Obviously, differs by the kid.

Don't do it, 6v just isn't enough! 12v is the minimum for your kids to have any fun with these.

Words of advice buy a 12v car, add a voltage regulator, then run your tool batteries. All of the cars I've been through have worthless batteries from the start.

Spend the 50 bucks to run tool batteries. Plus it's super fun to dial up the juice
Thats what I did, got a an old power wheels jeep. I painted and wired it up to run of dewalt batteries. Also added an rc kit. My daughter loves it.

I saw one in Costco, put 2 yo in it and he managed to remove few parts. Quality is simply not there. Very disappointing. Better to buy used or find free one that may be just missing battery

Which RC kit did you get? My kid doesn't want to turn steering wheel and it is nit comfortable to run and hold the wheel

I've got a couple Traxxas Summit 775 motors and esc that would work on it running off a couple m18 batteries, haven't convinced myself the stock gears would hold up. Plus the 550 motor are working okay and the batteries last well over an hour.
