Can anyone attest to how good this would be for an engineering college student? (Aka can run 3D modeling, note taking, and multitasking?)
I think for 3D modeling you will want something with a discrete graphics card. There were a few deals similarly priced recently that included RTX 3060.
I have had the following problems:
1. Keyboard backlight no longer works. ACER support says unit needs to be physically sent to Acer for repair. Known problem.
2. The touch screen often after computer wakes from sleep no longer works. Needs a restart. Acer says it is known problem. Needs to be sent for repair.
3. Battery reset pin on bottom of unit needed to fix Spin 5 unable to boot up. Acts as if dead, until battery pin reset.
4. Keyboard no longer worked. External USB keyboard did work.
5. DO NOT BUY. NEVER AGAIN FROM ACER.
At the very least, quality control is not there. Your are rolling a dice.

Everytime I think i found the perfect laptop, there's always an issue.
Is there really any laptop brand that we can trust nowadays?
Lenovo and Asus - broken hinge
samsung - cracked screens
dell - bulging battery, among many other issues

How well does the Iris Xe graphics work? I have no experience with them.
Depends on what your needs are. This is more of a productivity/thin and light laptop, something youd take to work or college classes. Its not a gaming laptop, but it will do basic gaming like 1080p low 30FPS in AAA games, more in esports titles and indies. With HDMI and thunderbolt you can power 2 external 4k screens, but obviously not 4k gaming.
I don't think the keyboard would be very friendly. I would look for Lenovo's ThinkPad or IdeaPad Pro instead.
Which would be better? I'm looking for a laptop to recommend to my BF that has decent enough specs to where it can also game too. Didn't realize this laptop didn't have a dedicated graphics card.
Anyone able to help me recommend a good one? We are having trouble finding the specs in a laptop period:
-minimum of 12GB of RAM
-1TB of SSD
-Handle 3D modeling on Fusion 360
-Play games with 60 FPS.
-Touchscreen or Bluetooth pen compatible
Preferably:
-Decent monitor Hz wise
-Bigger screen
-Decent battery life to last through about three classes back to back with less intensive use (4ish hours?)

Well, that would a difficult ask tbh. But you are technically looking for a gaming laptop. And this thread's Laptop is definitely NOT something that you should consider
Asus Zephyrus could fill the bill. Check the reviews on it by Dave2D on YouTube to gauge the pros and cons. It is portable enough and powerful enough for your needs (but remember, not all games can get played at 60FPS)
There are others like Dell G series, Lenovo Legion Series, MSI Creator Series (not that good) and HP Omen series as well.
But, seems like Asus Zephyrus might be the likeliest candidate
