Terrible advice. We depend on a healthy supply of closet guitars to stock the secondary market.
I agree. Don't let people who profit off new guitars tell you otherwise
*TWANG…..T H w O M P doodoo"
Some of these go on sale for less.
I have the Epiphone 335, J Mascis and a Gretsch Jet. I play them just as much as my Gibson Les Paul and American Deluxe Strat that each cost 3-4 times as much. We're very lucky to live in a time where such great guitars are available at these prices.
I have a rep at Guitar Center that gives me 10-20% off just by emailing him. If you want his contact info drop me a PM. I earn nothing from referrals, just love getting more people into music therapy.
Thanks! I did walk into a local music store and bought my kid a Fender guitar and glad I did since the personal service was great and even got 8 lessons in store. Good tip!

If you're a beginner and want a fender without the price tag I'd recommend the higher end Squier models (classic vibe) or a G&L tribute. Definitely play before you buy and look for sharp fret ends and buzzing on the neck.
