I have it. Sensor requires close almost touching to activate. Sometimes it hits hand opening. It does have a count down timer to make sure it doesn't close on you. The timer stops when you stand near sensor.
It used C batteries and has pretty good life compared to my old IR sensor trash which used D cells.
We have the bigger trash can of the two and the sensor is very hard to trigger and it also eats batteries for breakfast.
Anyone have this and know if it's good?

Never buy a electronic trash as they are re trash . Works only for 6 months then has some issue or other , year later you throw it out and get a regular bin
Will never go back to touch less trash cans. The sensor is nearly useless as your hand has to be within an inch or so to activate. The batteries run out faster than expected and they recommend you don't use rechargeable. But, the most infuriating part is that the lid is not entirely sealed, so liquids and junk get down inside of the compartment which causes the working parts to fail or work less efficiently (lid won't open all the way) I've had 5, 3 have failed within a year or two and when these last two die I'm getting a step/pedal version.
Disclaimer, I've not used this brand, but have used the ones from Target and Costco.

If you have Jubilee of the X-Men living in your household then yeah, they're a bad idea. But I've had (another) one for quite a few years now and it's still working well.

What are c batteries? Don't these use aa or aaa batteries

I currently have 9 sensor trash cans in my home, from around 2 gallon up to 18 gallon. They have worked flawlessly for me, some being 5-10 years old, others newer. I rarely recharge batteries (using eneloop). The only time I've had them not work is when I accidentally got gunk on the sensor, which simply required a quick cleaning. I love not touching the waste bins and wouldn't go back. However, I have avoided the cheaper / walmart ones. Heres the 18 gallon I recommend: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B083JL8FKT/
Anyone know if these can take an AC adapter? I've run a similar one off an AC adapter for 5+ years and don't want to deal with batteries at all if I can avoid it.
