Looks like a solid deal but the two things missing to me are a secondary hard drive (sometimes you can find in this price range) and a optical drive, which are becoming less and less common.

Now expect to hear the following from the peanut gallery:
-"the air flow is abysmal"
-"the PSU is anemic"
-"only (x number) of HDMI ports?!?"
-whine about the ram being 1 stick vs 2 or 2 sticks vs 1
-complain about it's merit for mining
-mention black friday
-bring up a completely different config that was a brick and mortar, YMMV deal from 2018
-compare the GPU to something either lightyears behind or beyond it

Seems like a solid deal with the RTX 3060. What are the negatives for this PC? Been looking at components to build one and can't come close with this GPU.

For installing software, absolutely.

But optical will still be around for years because:
-need to backup / rip data to / from long term storage
-share anything large without concern if you ever get your media back. Small HD's and thumbdrives are great personal data storage devices but nothing is simpler or cheaper than handing a burnt disc to someone you might never see again.
-Survive moisture better
-Do not suddenly "corrupt" without warning
-discs do not spread viruses (not near as often)
-You do not have to worry about people highjacking your PC / data by putting their disc in your computer (again, it is possible but million times less likely)
-No need to worry about the umpteen possible file sharing options online (and their data breaches) when trying to transfer a file to someone less than tech knowledgeable.
-Ability to easily and cheaply create redundant backups

At least optical drives are fairly cheap.

Optical drives aren't included in most modern builds.

Which is why I stated "optical drives, which are becoming less and less common."

No, they aren't common at all anymore. Not just less and less common, they've nearly stopped altogether including them in builds, as well as manufacturing modern cases for them. For this price point, this is a great deal for right now, and stating that they're missing those 2 things for you isn't relevant to this build, nor thread.

Pretty solid price I was going to sell a build exactly like this except with a 10400 cpu. For 1000$ shipped. Obviously diff brand parts I'd assume, but I thought I was selling at a great price..

Looks like very limited expansion potential. Only 2 RAM slots. Doesn't seem to have any HDD/SDD cages. That 512 GB SSD would almost certainly need to be replaced. So if you are using as is and don't plan to upgrade, it could be decent.

the only part i agree with is using discs as a form of backup. if there's data you can't afford to lose, keep multiple copies in different locations.

times have changed where all the other points are either impractical (i can't think of anyone that wants files on a disc, and backing up files on a disc is a more involved manual process than backing up on a nas) or aren't worth worrying about (moisture/bitrot/malware - again, practice safe data backup and these issues can easily be overcome).

i do see the value, and optical drives will exist as an option, but it just isn't the future. if you have a use-case, great, but there's a reason why you don't see new laptops with optical drives anymore. i think some OEM desktops still come with optical drives, but i'd imagine most of those buyers don't use them either.

pc enthusiasts are already a rare breed, and optical drive enthusiasts are a rare breed among them.

Case looks too small to add components such as extra SSD's or HDD's and also the air flow doesn't look like it would be great. Anyone have this PC? Thoughts?

How about this one

https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali605...6883360270

Is it worth to pay extra $299 to get GeForce RTX 3060 Ti ; 1TB Intel M.2 NVMe SSD ; 650 PSU and Asus PC case?

I ordered one today. Best bang for the buck that I could find, especially with the 3060.
