I have been using this Chromebook for 2 weeks. The 17" IPS screen alone is worth the $200.

Yes, Chromebook is not for everyone. Chrome is pretty much the only browser option. But everything seems to work fine under Chrome.

got this last month from BB, it's a fantastic desktop replacement chromebook for the price. The screen is nice and sharp, even if 1080p, at 17" it's quite the treat. would be good for older users who might prefer things a bit larger as well.

Chrome is the best in handling malware and viruses. If you often browse risky web sites, then chrome OS is the choice. Most hacker malware targeted Windows and IOS.

Considering the size and weight of any 17" laptop its not really meant for portability. Its more of a desktop replacement.
If 17" 5lbs is too big, consider the 14" chromebook on sale at Costco now on sale for $199.99

What's with the Chromebook haters on this thread spreading fake news so they can get on their knees and fellate whatever trash MacBook thread that pops up. No Bluetooth are you mentally nuts? This absolutely has it. You losers need help.

I got this for my elderly dad last time it was on sale for $160 on an open box and it was a total slickdeal, did a battery check and it only had one cycle on it. Could tell someone got it and didn't understand ChromeOS and sent it back. The screen is worth the price alone. It's huge, IPS, 300 nits, HD, and is very easy on the eyes. The speakers are another hidden gem. On my dad's older Chromebook I had to get him a Bluetooth speaker for him to listen to the music he likes on YouTube for extended time, but on this it gets plenty loud that he doesn't need that. I installed remote desktop and have seamlessly remoted in to help him print stuff to his wifi printer. The fact that this will easily last until 2029 makes this is a no brainer deal for this use case. Perfect device for senior citizens.

Can confirm steams YouTube at 1080 just fine, a bit of hiccup at 4k, even though it's 1080 screen.

There have been Chromebook haters since they came out in 2012. I remember them saying that Chromebooks would be gone within 2 years. I just assume that everyone has both a Chromebook and Windows laptop these days. Not really sure why people that hate Chromebooks still open up all the Slickdeals Chromebook threads. Maybe they think they're gonna save us from purchasing evil Chromebooks even though some of us have been using them for 10+ yearsSmilie

Roll the dice and get an Open-Box Fair @ $180 or pay $199 to get new? Worth the hassle?
