The flaw with Hillman, and so many other screws, is their driving heads.
It says T25 but they aren't snug with any T25 bit. But sadly, a lot of screw makers have this issue (and the screws themselves from different brand names, all seem identical in appearance... like made in the same place.)
The Hillman brand has a lot of wobble when used with a T25 bit. You can use a T26 or T26.5 and it will help, but do you have any of those laying around? Not many do.
The issue is they don't have the torx heads stamped in deep enough to compensate their coating. They oversize the width of the drive slot to make up for that, bit it's too oversized. So they don't grip the driving bit well.
This can lead to cam out on them. And a torx shouldn't be capable of that. So when it does happen, it strips the coating off, and leaves it vulnerable to rusting.
The weird part is that their non-coated wood screws (or zinc coated) still have too large a head slot.
A good screw should fit on the end of your bit, and not slope down as it driver is resting. It should remain straight.
With that said, a lot of the lesser quality brands have started to listen and are buying heads that are sized more appropriately. These however, are not those.

I purchased a previous SD on hill man box of screws (I think 3") and used them exclusively when putting together a boardwalk to our front door.
I do agree that the fit could have been a BIT snugger, but I did not experience camming out. It may have happened a few times, but definitely wasn't "a thing" and I don't recall any stripped heads. I forget how many boards, but it was a ~45' path with 6" boards so it was a decent amount of screws.
I have not looked for chipped paint, but I can tell you that I finished the boardwalk I want to say last summer, so it's seen a good deal of rain/snow (I'm in the NE) and I have not seen any signs of rust.
Not saying it can't / won't happen, but hasn't been my experience thus far. I can also say not a single screw snapped which is probably the most annoying thing that can happen.
I did slip a few times and jam my impact driver into the deck board, but that was probably just me and not the screw.
For a professional, I can see this being a pass for the reasons you mentioned, but I would definitely use them again as a homeowner. I actually repurchased them last time around to use this summer for when I replace deck boards.

I use these all over my house and yard. Not having to pre-drill holes is baller.
