Look up tutorials online. There are lot of things going on, so don't do it unless you know how.
However it was painful to do a clean install. If it was easy then I would be more inclined to return for a replacement to check out if the thunderbolt port is misaligned. Even when it was so painful I would still do it to get rid of all bloatware.
Here are issues I ran into:
The touchpad drivers are not in the Windows 11 installation media. So the touchpad won't work until Windows installs and completes all updates. It does find the correct drivers eventually on its own. Just took a few updates and reboots. I had an external mouse handy which I used during install.
The bigger problem is that the hard disk drivers are not on the Windows 11 installation media either. So you won't see your hard disk at all. You need to download the drivers from Intel and extract them on the install USB. https://www.intel.com/content/www...forms.htm
After all updates it will install Intel Thunderbolt and some other Intel drivers, and HP Bang & Olufsen for audio. But that is it. I am not sure if I actually need the Bang & Olufsen control center. I was most pissed at all HP and McAfee bloatware.
However, Windows 11 comes with its own set of bloatware. It installs Microsoft Maps and other things. Why would I need a map app on my computer?
The 5700U has more cores and better GPU, so if you do heavy work using all cores, or want to do light gaming, it will be better than the i5 in the cheaper model.
Edit: Also note that the cheaper one is an Envy model, which is considered higher end than the Pavillion model. There may be some minor quality differences in the build/body, etc,

The Envy 13.3" has a brighter 400 nits screen vs 250 nits screen on the Pavilion 15.6". So the Envy should be easier to see outdoors.

They also have this one on sale for $850, with 1TB SSD and Windows 11 Professional.

If not, does anyone recommend the added warranty you can purchase? (Typically i decline these, but I'm cautious of the hinges and cracking screen as it will be used extensively as a portable).
Thanks.

Most of these touch screen laptops in this price range either have 8 gigs of ram, 256gb of ssd, or a 250nit screen.

Thanks.
See Citi's site [citi.com] regarding this for more info. Note that the Citi warranty may involve a few more hoops to jump through than an OEM warranty (e.g. seeking repair cost estimates, etc.) and can take a few weeks for reimbursement albeit it's pretty useful for a "free" benefit.

Bought the Costco one, but haven't opened it and not sure if this would be better. Appreciate any insights into the differences between the two and why one might be better than another.
Thanks in advance!
