Many Tello StackSocial deals have been posted over the past 2+ years. This is the lowest per-line price on the 6-month 2GB plan in a long time. You need to buy their two-line bundle.

2GB high-speed data is monthly, and with Tello you get unlimited 2G data after you've used your high-speed allotment.

1. Buy $50 of StackSocial credit for $40 [stacksocial.com]. The credit showed up immediately in my account.

2. Buy Tello Value Prepaid 6-Month Plan: Unlimited Talk/Text + 2GB LTE Data (2 Account Bundle) [stacksocial.com]. (This deal is not eligible for coupons, but store credit can be used.)

3. During checkout, make sure to check the box to use your $50 credit.

$40 for the credit plus $29 (after credit) for the Tello bundle, plus tax on the Tello bundle = $69 plus tax total.

I've done the Tello StackSocial one-line deal in the past and was very happy with it. Needed two lines to activate in a few weeks, so this was perfect.

Great deal.

That said, single line Tello deals on StackSocial are excluded from coupons AND store credit - correct?

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. I'm also seeing that the $49 single-line deal now disallows store credits and coupons. In the past coupons were allowed, so with a 15% off coupon that's available from time to time, the price on the single line has been $41.65. But assuming the stated terms are enforced, I guess that doesn't work anymore.

So the two-line deal looks even better now. Smilie

Can this still be redeemed with Sprint CDMA hotspots and phones or would I need to buy their single-use T-mo SIM?

Tello will no longer activate devices on the legacy Sprint network All Tello SIM cards are now T-Mobile network.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to manually renew on my 8GB of data rollover. Good backup on paygo and GSM has been solid, seemed pretty smooth transition for most. Here is more on that.

If you're still on a CDMA line on Tello, this article is for you . We'll need your full attention and you're required to act fast if you want to keep enjoying our super affordable plans and avoid losing your number. Ok, so let's dive in! https://blog.tello.com/news/last-...tello-gsm/

The fine print doesn't say how much time you have to activate but I'd like to know this too. The fine print says the deal is a credit to your tello account that brings the regular price of the plan down to $79.
On one hand, the fine print says the deal is "for new Tello users only" but on the other hand you apparently need to have an existing tello account to use it since it serves as a credit to your account. If you are a new user then you wouldn't have an account. Its all very confusing and not explained well it seems.

In addition, the terms say "stay on this plan for 6 months in order to keep the offer. If you change the phone plan, the offer will no longer apply going forward." Does this mean if, on month 5, I switch to Mint, do they take the credit away from me and charge me more? On the other hand, the phrase "going forward" might mean that this is a price for life, that you get a credit every 6 months. Of course, the fine print also says you pay full price after 180 days, so this interpretation is unlikely. However, the "going forward" language is confusing.

I would bite, but given the lack of clarity regarding how long I have to activate, I must decline. There is/was a company called liberty wireless that had a $60 / year unlimited talk/text no data deal that I found on Ebay a few months ago, but it looks like they might have folded.

You are overthinking this. You buy the codes from StackSocial. Then, you create an account at Tello (if you enter a referral code below the password box when creating an account, you will get $10 in Tello dollars that you can use for the 7th month).

Once you are in the new Tello account, you redeem the StackSocial code in the cart after selecting the 2GB and unlimited talk/text plan. It will reflect the 6 month discount and ship you a SIM card. Your service starts once you activate the SIM. For the next 5 renewals, it will be for $0. Then, after the six months is up, it will charge the current rate for that plan, but at that time you can downgrade to a cheaper plan and apply your Tello Dollars. If at any time, you port out, you will not be charged anything, but you will lose the rest of what you have paid for.

When they say, "If you change the phone plan, the offer will no longer apply going forward" that means that if in month two, you for some reason switch to the 4GB plan, you lose what you have already purchased and will now be charged for the 4GB plan.

In the past, the StackSocial code had to be redeemed within 30 days. Once you ordered the SIM card from Tello, you had another 30 days to redeem it. Finally, when you originally set up the Tello account, you are not given the option to port a number. They will assign a temporary number until you activate the SIM. Then, you can initiate a port from a different carrier.

Also, if you want to maximize Tello Dollars, you can put each phone on a different account. Use someone else's code when setting up the first account. Then use the first account's referral code for the second account. That way the first account will have $20 and the second account will have $10 to use towards service after the 6 months is up.

Thank you for clarifying everything, I understand now. Two questions remain, however. My background is I have two kids that I'd like to get phones for. One has a phone plan that expires in September. The other I'd like to set up with her own phone sometime before September, but I can wait until September if I need to. I still am not clear on how long I have until I need to activate. I guess I also don't understand if I need to start both plans at exactly the same time.

My experience is only with a 6 month single plan, but I believe you get two separate codes from StackSocial so can set up each line separately.

But don't buy this now if you want to start in September. Assuming it is like past codes, the StackSocial code has to be redeemed in 30 days. Then you have another 30, maybe 35 to activate the Tello sim, so max 65 days out from ordering to be safe.
