This is what indicates the fragrance concentration in the bottle. Generally, the higher concentration = the longer it lasts on you.
Eau Fraiche = ~1-2%
Cologne = 2-5%
Eau de Toilette = 5-15%
Eau de Parfum = 15-20%
Parfum = 20%+
It's always a good choice to look at the different options.. some will actually change the scent between EDT and EDP concentration (look at the notes on Sauvage, which changes notes for EDT, EDP, Parfum and Elixir), and in some cases the Parfums will LAST longer on you but you won't project as heavily (Sauvage Parfum, for example, seems very "quiet" compared to the EDT/EDP)
If I want something that will last, I generally try to get EDP, Parfum or Extrait/Elixir whenever it's an option.

Actually, certain frags are good for certain seasons or situations only. This truth allows me to justify my addiction......

Sorry, you have me mistaken. I did it (mostly part-time but yes sometimes full-time) for the college girls with daddy issues.
About Silver Mountain Water, unfortunately it's been watered-down a bit over time (newer batches have very short longevity and performance). Great scent, but the reformulation and continually rising prices have made it a tough choice. I generally try to avoid any clone-houses, but Armaf's "Sillage" (about $30/bottle) is a knockoff of Silver Mountain Water which smells like and has the performance of those earlier batches. It's one of the few times I'd actually recommend a clone over an original (even when there's a big price difference, I'll often stick to the original)
Silver Mountain Water (or Sillage) is an awesome scent which hasn't become quite as mainstream as something like Aventus yet, which seems to be what everyone is trying to smell like when they want something different from what Macys offers.. but everyone's wearing the same cheap clones trying to smell like the real thing.
Funny that you mention Aventus as I remember someone mentioning a brand sold by Macy's that's a clone that actually smells and probably out-performs Aventus. I can't recall the name, but having used it, and Aventus is probably another clone that might also be better than the original.
**** Montblanc EXPLORER**** is the fragrance I was thinking of.

For mid level price, I like Chrome Azzaro.
For cheaper, I really like the Cremo products on Amazon. They are only $20 a bottle and surprisingly, I get the most compliments from those.
Tons of fakes on eBay. But not this site... people don't always understand that frags can smell very different from one person to another due to each person's respective body chemistry.

It's funny you mention Montblanc and Macy's though -- I think Macy's sales associates use "this one smells just like Aventus, a $500 cologne!" As their selling point. They did to me!
I know "club de Nuit intense" (and montblanc) are both quite common nowadays due to the wide availability and lower price, so I don't recommend any of the above for someone looking for a unique scent. The other creeds, like silver mountain water (or armaf sillage) are much less common
