The TLDW is in order to make the mice or efficient different voltages were used, that causes certain metals to wear out faster at the contact points, and he ultimately suggest replacing (by taking apart and soldering) with Japanese made Omron switches (the default is Chinese made Omron switches).
I got enough dead mice that it's probably worth it for me to get gud at replacing switches, trying it right now with my G502 (as soon as I can find all of my soldering equipment).
