I've been researching a few different types of drives for a NAS/VM Server so I've looked at drive durability and this is not the drive I am looking for. Its endurance is pretty low compared to others like the Samsung 970/980 EVO/PRO/PLUS or the Corsair MP510 which are listed a bit higher.
However, if this isn't your use case and you simply want a drive to store your installed games with decent performance, this isn't a bad drive to get.
These Intel NVME's have very low TBW andunless they are $60, I would not get it. There are far more better brands to buy! This intel is too OG and lacking in spec these days! Maybe that's why Intel sold their storage business...

pointless comment. Samsung 980 is a Gen 4 and costs 3 times that price
980 IS a gen 4 drive, though. It's just not a very good gen 4 drive. If I remember correctly, it's a gen 4 NVME drive with no DRAM and a slower controller.
Edit: nevermind, I just looked it up. You're right. It's a gen 3 drive. I think I was thinking of the WD SN770.

How was it pointless? I simply gave my input on what this drive's best use case is probably for and only listed alternative drives I looked at.
The Intel 660p won't wow you in the benchmarks, but what it will do is give you a cheap place to store your installed data. Just don't be surprised when its performance isn't up to par compared to its counterparts.

The Intel SSD 660p will shake up the low end of the NVMe market with very good performance at an unprecedented price, even though write speeds can drop precipitously to 100MBps when very large amounts of data are written to the drive, or when it begins to fill up. Note that the 512MB version offers significantly slower performance.

And again with its very low 200 TBW (total terabytes written), it's just not very durable.
