kinda want this a series x cold storage drive, but tbh dont really need it. i have a hybrid 1tb for that and dont really use it for some reason. might be easier to redownload stuff when needed with 400mb connection.

still want it.

Fantastic OS drive. Copying large files will take some time as the cache will fill rending crazy low writes. I use this primarily for OS and and a few games have had no issues with it

Agreed, but unfortunately, they are the only one of a few vendors left with good selection sadly.

Newegg is awful, but like it or not, we need them. There are just some components that aren't readily available at Amazon or BestBuy.

Hardly seems that good of a deal with the 670p coming in only $5 more. This 660 is a really old drive, you would think it would be a lot cheaper. Confused

I got a few of the 670's from Newegg without issue a while ago. YMMV

I OWN THIS.
STAY AWAY!!
YOU WILL WAIT 30MINS FOR SIMPLE EXTRACTIONS WHEN DRIVE REACHES 70%!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Alternatively grab a WD SN770 used or open box on ebay, it's tested to be the fastest nvme for game loads as well as other tests ever even beating the sn880. I've looked at every nvme on the current market, this is the jam! there's new ones on ebay for 83 right now!

Will this work just fine as a file backup drive? Occasional use to retrieve from the backup. I have a HDD for backup and I am always worried about it going bad. I do not want to use paid cloud backup.

This is an early QLC drive and it has sequential writes that are slower than an HDD once the cache is full. It's decent as an OS drive where it's not going to be receiving a ton of writes. Personally, I'd spend $20-30 more and get a better drive, but this isn't a bad deal for what it is.

I bought one a few years ago. When it gets close to full...slow like floppy disk....

Bought this 4 years ago for the same price. Thanks Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron for gouging the consumer.
