My 20V Porter Cable tools work fine but the batteries are 5 and 6 years old and surely can't last much longer, right? And I don't think Porter Cable even sells cordless tools anymore so thinking it's near time to make the jump to the Ryobi line. Is this package the best way to get into the Ryobi family?

There's still plenty of Porter Cable around, especially at Tractor Supply. And rumors are that Black&Decker batteries are compatible with a little plastic shaving. See short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utx4fLTdAbQ
You could also consider rebuilding your old battery packs with fresh cells when they die.

Like a previous post said, porter cable does provide cordless. My local costco sells them. But I sense that's not the point. I had a previous version of a similar Ryobi set when I started off. it is a good starter set, and will last you about 4-5 years before the drill and driver start to lose tolerance (for me at least) as a DIYer. since you already started with a porter cable, and you know your way around the basic tools, I'd target the basics instead. The Drill/Driver set with that extra 4 Amp-hr battery deal on the front page now is a good place to start. Or the Airstrike Nail gun is a must have. But.... joining the Ryobi cult you will buy things that you do NOT need. a lot of them... just a heads up.

It's a value bundle, if you don't mind light usage it may work in your favor. For me, I'm already invested in Milwaukee so I go M18 Fuel or bust. The only tool I have from that Ryobi bundle is the orbital buffer. The saying always goes, you get what you pay for.
I'd rather pay a little more for quality and longevity than to rebuy all the tools again later after some of the value tools have failed.
If you can hold out, wait for some Milwaukee deals or hacks. Otherwise, take a look at some of the current DeWalt deals.
Just ordered this. Luckily I searched Slick Deals the last minute for some Ryobi deals and found this. Had the combo kit with everything in it except for the orbiter for $200 then came across this, good deal!

I was gifted an old Porter Cable set that had dead batteries, bought these generic replacements on Amazon - 2 for $35 and they've been great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

I jumped to ryobi several years ago and never looked back. I had a very low budget and I only purchased the "green brand" battery and most used tools when I first started. for other tools I scavenge CL for the "blue brand" and got bunch of "blues" for very low price[ebay.com]. because of backwards comparability and just the volume of ryobi tools available, you have a lot of ways you can accumulate tools.
This is a great deal, the questions you should ask yourself: do you need all them tools.
