It seems to be the flat kind based on the pictures.

The biggest red flag to me is that the seller combines their $20 grinder on the same page as their $60 coffee pots. The majority of high reviews are for the pots, and if you read through the reviews the grinder reviews all talk about how uneven the grind is. So the grinder does not have 4,000+ reviews averaging 4 stars. I often see this done as a way to hide crap stuff by shady sellers.

Some reviews said that this one is quieter than most, but the output drawer is fragile and prone to cracking/breaking, rendering the entire grinder unusable.

I already have a burr grinder from a different manufacturer. At this price point I would definitely pick one up if needed one.

Too bad you can't use Amazon gift cards on woot. Good price for a burr grinder though.

I actually decided to get it based on the reviews I found. It does seem like the drawer has broken for some people but the general theme of the reviews is that Chefman stand behind their product and actually go out of their way to correct any issues (at least any issues mentioned in an Amazon review.) It does seem like there are only about 360 reviews for this specific grinder though.

Pretty much anything sub $100 (MSRP) is going to give uneven grind sizes. If you're going to get something cheap like this, do yourself a favor and brew with french press. that is going to be much more forgiving of a really bad grinder.

Don't even consider using this for V60 or Espresso.

This looks identical to my Secura grinder. Wonder if its just a different name.

Yep.

All of these $20-40 burr grinders are just very inconsistent. Lots of fines make their way into the coffee, making the last cup significantly more bitter than the others.

I'd still take this over the "choppers" in the same price range, but just be aware of its limitations.

Had an identical one. Static issues, inconsistent grind size and oddly loud. Don't cheap out and remember the rule: spend about as much on your grinder as you do on the method for making coffee. If you have an espresso machine, by God, do not buy this thing.

I have one of these. It's unfortunately pretty loud and the output mechanism is pretty weird. Kind of makes a mess when you try to dump out the grinds and a lot remains statically adhered to the container. It's not a very consistent grind size, but it gets the job done and, for $20, this would certainly be better than your average blade grinder.

Not a bad starter grinder. The plastic collection container is a bit annoying because of static buildup.

I've moved on to the Oxo burr grinder (obviously more expensive) which I love.

The drawer is very fragile, mine cracked on the first week after dropping on the floor. Machine is loud, messy.
The ground is better than that of blades.
Sometime the vibration of machine changes the finesse dialer, or set the mill loose. If inconsistent, check the setting and retighten the mill.
Overall good for $20, I think I paid about $35 two years ago

Had this for a few weeks. Been using it for aeropress and moka pot. Not a fan of the output box thing but in general very satisfied with it for $20. When I get a real espresso machine I'll be sure to upgrade to a better grinder. The grind inconsistency is not a big deal with my current use case.

It is a real burr grinder, but a cheap one. I owned this for a few years. It doesn't grind consistently and not fine enough for espresso. For moka pot or drip coffee, it should be fine. The plastic bin has lot of staitic and very annoying.

i ordered this from woot a month ago during a woot off i think.. they canceled my order saying they ran out of units or something, so i'm glad to see this back. thanks op.

i have a philips superautomatic espresso maker, but wanted a decent compact grinder just like this to tuck right behind it for making cold brew in the summer
