Don't buy this with glass lid. The cast iron lid is an essential part of a French Dutch oven. It heats quickly and reflects heat for even cooking. It is moisture conserving and gives the best result for braising with or without dimples. I get endless use out of my 24 cm L.C. lid from the 4-1/2 qt oven. Useful w my fry pans for shallow braising and reheating. French cast lid can't be purchased separately except used on ebay $$$. Hold out for a deal on the L.C. or similar from Staub.

Got this over Christmas and the glass lid does release some moisture so it is not complete sealed. I have enjoyed it.

I have several of this with the cast iron lid. The cast iron lid is the must have to keep the high temperature and moisture. I don't know why staub changed the lid to glass for this classic one. Such a disappointment.

I have the normal one and got the glass lid one for my parents. Its fine, but the glass lid one looks worse to me and I think it fits a little worse.

I still really like these 4qt ones, even if they're the gateway expensive dutch oven for people
