Ok... run from these!!! Bora is the worst parallel clamps out there (Bessey taking 2nd place in the 💩 category.)

I'd go into details, but it's not like anyone would listen.

Just know that there are only 2 decent parallel clamps out there currently... Jorgensen for the budget conscious, and Jet, for people wanting the best. And the way clamps are heading, I wouldn't be surprised if they too ended up lowering their quality one day.


TBH ... I'm going back to Modified Pipe Clamps for my big glue ups, and making a glue up table with built in tracks. Once Jet, Jorgensen, and older Bessey's go, I will not be buying anymore unless a new brand comes out that makes great clamps.

(I'm the one functioning arm/leg guy that has hundreds of clamps to make up for my Fiddler Crabesque appearance lol. So clamps are my most valuable tools.)

Bora makes the worst clamps of any of the major manufacturers. They feel cheap, don't operate smoothly, and the faces aren't parallel. Supposedly the faces are supposed to be drawn parallel under pressure but what this means in reality is they slide the boards you are clamping out of alignment. It is uneven pressure that tries to equalize itself by moving what you are clamping. This is terrible. I have Bessey K-Body and Pony Jorgensen parallel clamps as well. They are both quality clamps and should be chosen over these Boras.

I like the smooth bar of the Ponys and the operation of the clamp is smooth, but they are very heavy. I don't care as much for the toothed bar of the Besseys (Bora as well) but they are lighter then the Ponys and the removable jaw faces are easier to clean glue and gunk off of. Don't underestimate the importance of weight. Parallel clamps are very heavy and if you throw 2, 4, or more of these on a project it can quickly become very difficult to move.

A link to a pair of bessy 50" clamps for $97 on Amazon was posted above and that is hands down a much better deal. Unless you are getting these Boras for like $20 I would not waste your money when there are clearly better options for close to the same price.

Bought a pair of 43", and they're comparable to the Bessey I have. Definitely better than the Bessey Revo Jr., the grip on the Jr is awful.

That seems to be the general consensus, but what they charge these days is not appealing. HD has the 50" Besseys for only $10 more, and I can get 11% back since I'm in Menard's territory, so I might do that instead.

It really depends on what you're doing. In my opinion Jorgensen and Bora are pretty comparable. Bessey is widely considered to be the best. But again, it depends on the types of materials you're working with, if you're doing large glue ups with thin pieces of wood vs thicker ones, etc. I see no real issue with these. At the end of the day, everyone's needs are different and what one person likes, another may not. This is a decent price to get a set of these to try out and they're not junk so if you like them you'll get plenty of use.

After I wrote my comment replying to @gr8scottaz, I re-read all of yours. I would like to hear about your experiences with parallel clamps, esp bessey (which I said were the best) and why you're going back to pipe clamps? I love learning about how other people use their tools and what makes them one person's favorite while they are another's least favorite.

I have special clamps for that. They look and function a lot like handcuffs but they're covered in a really soft material for comfort.
