I am a big fan of rtings reviews. I agree so much with them. I always read their reviews.

There aren't any $40 earbuds putting up a JBL's 7.3 neutral sound score that I see. These JBL outscored the Jabra Elite 75T which has a 6.8 neutral sound. The JBL is definitely better than the Anker $43-80 earbuds. The Apple Airpods Pro has a 7.4 neutral sound (measly .1 point higher than these JBL earbuds) and costs way more than $38. Right now the Airpods Pro is currently on sale for $175 at Sams Club and retails $250. I have the Apple Airpods 2nd gen and it scored a PATHETIC 6.6 neutral sound which I agree with. I bought it for $99 sale on Amazon on 11/5/20 (160 thumbs up deal) before I read the rtings review and wasted my money on it. Trash earbuds. It costs me way more than $40. Atrocious noise isolation and bad fit. Easily the worst slickdeal purchase that I ever made. Lesson learned. Read rtings before making an earbuds/headphones purchase.

Rtings says the best earbud under $100 was the Anker soundcore life p3 (7.1 neutral sound) and the JBL outscored the Anker with its 7.3 neutral sound score.

I am huge fan of the Samsung Galaxy buds+ deals (bought 5 and 3 of them is for myself) but this JBL deal is tempting. These would be a downgrade from my Samsung Galaxy Buds+ though. I would suggest the Samsung earbuds but it will cost lot more than $38. I would look for a sale and pay an extra $30 for Samsung buds+ (new.. and not the downgrade buds 2) but I don't think they sell them anymore and some people don't want to pay that much. I actually really enjoy my JBL over the ear headphones that I got on sale too. Fan of JBL headphones and Bluetooth speakers.

* I bought the blue color. I already have the JBL Live 660NC over the ear headphones in blue that I really enjoy a lot. I was sold on JBL Live 300 due to the YouTube reviewers, positive YouTube comments from its owners, Amazon customer review score and especially rtings review. I always look at rtings when looking at headphones.

* I had the jbl earbuds for a couple days now and I am really enjoying them. They sound great and they are even better than the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ in certain aspects like stability, control, noise isolation and app. I love its stability and controls over the buds+. I'm gonna go mountain biking on real bumpy mountain bike trails with the jbl earbuds. No worries about them falling out. I still think buds+ are better overall and the buds+ crazy deals ($85.49 for two purple BTS and the $59 walmart deals) were better bang for the buck but these jbl are an absolute steal at $38 especially if one missed those crazy Samsung deals or want to have a backup pair with their buds+.

How did these sound compared to the JBL Reflect Flow? Do these have physical buttons or the touch/tap ones?

Pros:
Comfortable for in-ear headphones.
Stable design suitable for sports.
Versatile and well-balanced sound profile.
Great companion app with lots of customization options and parametric EQ.

Cons:
Less than advertised battery life.
Decent-at-best noise isolation.

$40 is what headphones like these should be selling for.

Wow. Nice video. I was looking at JBL live 300 but now I don't know which I prefer. The noise isolation of the flow is really good and rated 7.9 by rtings and that is really impressive. I believe the fins provide tighter fit in blocking noise. Reminds me of my jaybird X3 that did good job blocking noise. The battery life is also making me lean towards the flow. I think the 300 sounds little better, has usb-c and touch controls.

Not sure which I prefer more but leaning towards the flow as it will help blocking outside gym noise and battery life is very important to me. The micro USB doesn't bother me too much as I still charge micro USB devices and also because the battery life is really good with the flow. I will say that the 300 looks better than the Flow (ebay). In a odd way, I actually prefer flow physical button over 300 touch button. I found the Samsung touch button with double tap misses and accidental pauses. I don't adjust volume with earbuds too so no big deal there.

One can't go wrong with either at $30 Flow or $38 Live 300 and one can't find better sound earbuds in this price range according to rtings.

Update: Flossy Carter and rtings review scores sold me on the Live 300. I ordered the blue. Flossy Carter got the blue earbuds too. Lot of happy customers with both the 300 and flow in the YouTube comments sections in flossy, jimsreviewroom and other reviewers.

These don't quite make it to 7.3 neutral sound rating, but they're a little more than half the price normally, and are neck and neck in most other aspects

I have those Jlab that I keep in my winter jacket pocket because they were only $13 preXmas. They sound ok- good for the price, but upper bass interfere with an otherwise ok sound.

What would make these JBLs a much better option is not only better default tuning, but a parametric equalizer to really widen that sound quality gap. Unfortunately many people complain about app problems. Few headphones have parametric equalizers in their apps (usually just graphic equalizers or presets)

The Jlab's have a few sound setting that are unlistenable, except for Jlab signature and balanced. They are definitely worth their asking price, but limited. The other downside to those is the attached cable to charge the case. Their build quality is fine though.

Not really. The JBL beats it in pretty much in all categories except for office, portability, noise isolation and some lesser important categories. Budget earbuds are usually gonna have excellent overall battery life when the case is big, buds puts out less bass and no touch controls. Sure the JBL battery could be better. What makes earbuds sound really good is comparing the bass, mid and treble accuracy and that is where JBL has clear advantage. Those are the categories that I look at first. Hardware build and app equalizers are pretty important.

Nothing wrong with looking at budget earbuds (I have the $30 soundpeatss and the Skullcandy jib true that I bought for $15 sale where it retails for $30. I got the jib true because of rtings recommendation). I wouldn't say that they are on the level of this JBL. I never pay full retail for anything. I am not comparing this to my Samsung Galaxy Bud+ at their retail prices. I am comparing the 300 and even the Flow at $30 and nothing is comparing to them at their sale price. Am I gonna take the Flow selling at $75 on JBL website over my crazy Samsung Galaxy Buds+ deals last year? No way but there aren't any $30-37.99 Samsung Galaxy Buds+ deals now. I compare the sale to the competitors in the same price range. I say the same thing when people compare phones in completely different sale price ranges. I grade a product on based what sale price I paid. Not at its launch price. I think everything at launch is overpriced. Is the iPhone 11 worth $700 launch price and then 2 and half years later, you can buy the metro deal for $99 phone? It is good to wait for sales.

I read the JBL flow is more for sports as it has the big fins like my old jaybird X3 so they do get a bump up in ipx. The 300 remind me more of the Samsung Galaxy Buds+. I have no issue at all working out with them. They don't fall out ever and my ears aren't drenched in sweat where I care about ipx. I guess if someone runs outside in the rain it could matter. Never really cared much about waterproofing my phones or earbuds.

Prices go down over time when it comes to electronic devices. Don't get caught up on retail launch prices. It did launch at $150 and people did buy it at that price. Watch the YouTube reviewers and read the comments from people saying that they happily paid big bucks back then. Nobody is gonna pay $150 now though. What happens after 1 3/4 years from launch? It always lowers.... What happened to the iPhone 11? $700 launch price and 2 1/2 years later, you could buy it for $99 sale at Metro. Right now Metro lists the iPhone 11 at $499 retail. Who is paying that $499 retail price now? The iPhone SE 2020 was $400 launch and now they give it away for free when you port a phone number and buy a $60 plan. Nothing new in seeing electronic prices go down over time. This isn't a case of JC Penney where they overinflate some fake price and put out a "sale" that is just its regular price. Just normal deflation of electronics devices that we see it all the time.
