Yeah this is good. I wish it had a 1tb but you can't really complain. It's rare for a Yoga ThinkPad to get right near $1000 with 16gb.

I had a carbon before I needed something a bit higher performance. It was the best laptop I've ever had and I don't think that'll change. Super thin and portable while staying extremely high quality in terms of materials and build. Great performance, pretty good heat management. I had a Gen 7, I assume they've only gotten better. At that time, the Yoga was practically the same, just a bit bulkier.

Battery was the only downside because of the 1440p, but I assume it's gotten a bit better in these. And it wasn't too bad, just not like LG Gram level.

Very tempting, but I really prefer the regular Thinkpad X1 Yoga rather than than the Titanium. This is .5 lbs lighter but it has smaller keyboard with less key travel, and the nice keyboards are a big reason to go with Thinkpad.

Nice deal however I prefer the i7 model with 1tb SSD. I ordered that one from yesterday's deal however this is a great deal and should for the bill for 75% of people doing regular workloads and not gaming.

Only crappy part is with thin and lights no upgradable parts SSD is removable but it's the shorter type from what I've seen

Question for those in the know. I'm needing a rugged laptop for diagnostic work on boats and motorcycles, and have been recommended the ThinkPad x1 carbon several times, and this popped up in my deal alert.
However I see a lot for sale on ebay "parts not working".
Is it because there are problems with them, or is it just that they sell that many of them?
Are there screen and keyboard protectors available for these?

Do these have the same keyboard as other thinkpad? I'm realizing in my old age that a good keyboard and trackpad and thinness are way more important that gpu. And Lenovo laptop keyboards are the best imo

Many of the thinkpads listed on ebay for parts are recycled e-waste from Corporate IT Depts.
Having purchased many Dells like those thinkpads for repair/refurbish, I can tell you that many of these are run hard.

Most of these are not treated with care, thrown around, kept in dusty environments, liquids spilled on them and left on 24/7.

Most common failures that I've come across is physical damage, cracked screens, or spilled liquids or gotten wet somehow, or dropped badly.

There were a few with IC component failures that I've run into normally a shorted cap/mosfet, or worse case, a shorted CPU.

I think the failure rate for those failed components are much lower than actual physical damage.

HP on the other hand I've seen a lot of repair videos for shorted USB C controller chips.

My work issued X1 Yoga is still working fine from 2017 issued by my IT dept.

Through my work I have had many many laptops. The Lenovo ones were overall the best for fit and finish and luggage. I had an X1 carbon for years and it was my favorite for being small light yet rugged. But it all depends what you need it for. For my son he needed rugged more than light weight. So we got him a used commercial think pad years ago and the sucker is still trucking.

Anyone have pros/cons on this compared to X1 Yoga? I'm a huge fan of the X1 Yoga (I'm on my third I think), but it's starting to become a liability (8gb ram and almost full 128gb HD). I'm interested in this one, albeit the screen doesn't allow for tablet function, which I rarely used anyway. I usually have this docked to an external monitor and (Lenovo) keyboard, working on mainly editing projects via headphones - so all issues I have seen (bad sound or issues with speakers; lack of decent keyboard) would be moot. TLDR: any direct pros/cons in your experience with the X1 Yoga?

These have reduced key travel, same as Thinkpad nano. They are still better than Dell XPS but not as good as larger ThinkPads.
