Based on current prices of computer components and shipping costs plus taking into consideration these are two player decks with updated screens I think it's a steal at $150.
shipping, sure. But these games can be emulated by first generation iPads. We're not exactly pushing the limits of computing power here.
Has the roster on Jam been updated since release? I know there were some notable omissions like Reggie Miller.
I don't think so. Omissions were due to conflicts with players' other contracts at the time or players declining to have their NIL used, but I'm pretty sure those notable omissions are still there.
BTW, how did Reggie Miller come to mind? MJ is the first and most obvious player absent. You must be a Pacers fan? I never even noticed Reggie Miller wasn't in the game...didn't think twice about him and I put hundreds of hours on NBA Jam on SNES. Maybe Reggie was excluded because he looks like some type of demon with those bug eyes and little pointy teeth, and at the time the developers didn't want to scare little children or have to put a M rating on the game. Lol

Screen is way too small, should have made it bigger. Would love to have the table top of this for my office.
IMO these are functionally too small but some people seem to enjoy them. If you're mod savvy you could always purchase the non-riser cab on Walmart here[walmart.com] and cut the bottom off, place a hidden MDF slab on the bottom, and make it a solid bartop (Raiden would be cut off at the chest but I think it would still look good). The PCB enclosure is mounted toward the top so there's no hardware loss. May not be feasible for everyone if you're not comfortable with a table saw, but for a decent bartop the standard 3/4 scale units are the right size.
My guess is that 90%+ of people that buy this are disappointed with the size of the screen. I mean, why would you even bother having a 2nd set of controls and a lit marquee and such? Just get one set of nice controls, as big of a screen as can you manage and have it sit on a countertop. I think a 15"+ screen would be do-able. THAT would be well worth $200.

Because Reggie was in the original game, MJ was not. You wouldn't expect Jordan to be included since he was never in the game. Miller is probably the biggest omission from the original.

No but costs are up everywhere. Also licensing fees is something else to factor in. Especially for Jam where they likely had to cut a deal with everyone individually on top of the NBA license since no one is still in the league.

They most definitely did that. There's no way they can mass produce that game without securing the rights to the players. The reason why when Tecmo Bowl was released on the NES Classic it didn't have the player's names or every time Punch Out gets ported it doesn't have Tyson. Those deals don't last forever.
How does it feel when you actually play it? A friend and I have played some of the cabinets and it felt like the whole thing would topple over from time to time. I can only imagine this thing being that much smaller just sliding all over the place during "intense" playing like with MK.
I actually watched a guy on youtube reviewing it and it actually looks better than I expected. Portability and size are a big pro as not many people want to invest in a large cabinet and may have issues with space. He did state that it is kind of better to play as single player rather than 2 as the controls are little close together. If I had a game room, I would definitely consider in getting this or Street Fighter 2.
One can pay $450 for the 4 foot ArcadeUp Mortal Kombat 2 cabinet.

Correct on Tecmo Bowl. Incorrect on Tyson. They replaced Tyson with Mr. Dream after the whole jail thing.
FYI, I was at my local BJs just now and they had the PacMan countercade in OP for $110 on clearance. The thing is TINY. Would easily fit on an elementary school desk with room to spare. Which is a plus for some on a con for others. I couldn't really imagine playing two players on it, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

You honestly think they did that? Interesting.
