I'm conflicted. I do want to purchase this, but I may wait.

If you purchase now, you get 4 of the films in 4K, and those 4 will port to MA in 4K.

Saboteur / Shadow of a Doubt / The Trouble with Harry / Marnie / Family Plot should upgrade to 4K in iTunes around May or so, when the 2nd Alfred Hitchcock collection is released on 4K disc ... but they will not update to 4K in MA if you already own them.

If I wait to purchase until after the upgrade, then the additional 5 movies (9 in total) will port to MA in 4K. The risk is that it doesn't hit this price point again.

Owned some of these already, but added 10 to my collection. Got 5,000 Universal All-Access Rewards points [myuniversalrewards.com], so that's equal to another 5 free movies. Not a bad deal overall! Thanks OP!

What a great deal. I have all but 5 already (d2d), but might be worth buying just get auto 4k upgrades should that happen in the future.

If any of this collection was recently purchased a refund can be requested. In my experience, Apple has never denied this. They have even provided free rental credits for movies purchased too long ago to refund.

Thanks for that heads up. I just signed up today, connected my MoviesAnywhere account, then purchased the collection. I now have 7,000 points. Perhaps some of those are for previous purchases in my library?

They only have five movies available to redeem (digital):
  • Savages
  • Gosford Park
  • Darkman
  • Endless Love
  • Being Flynn

The only one I wanted is Gosford Park. Still.. a nice bonus, and maybe they'll have other movies later?

Yes movies from the 50s in general are slower, so you have to be in the mood for that. I also like watching them on TCM channel. Before the show the host explains some of the filming techniques and story telling he invented, which are copied by everyone today. Sometimes it makes the film even better to watch.
