I definitely understood it, that's why I said:

"unless they changed the terms/allowing them to stack, it's worth it if your situation warrants/justifies it."
And as that person has been trying to tell you, they changed the terms to disallow the stack. As of yesterday, the IHG personal cards have a 'family' rule like Sapphire and personal Southwest cards (which that poster accurately quoted and posted in their last comment that you seem to have misread).

There was the same debate from multiple people saying they wouldn't stack before. I took the chance and it worked. All I did was share my experience so I don't understand the backhanded insult. The link in my last post was found after my initial post. I left the research to any readers interested.

Now, my issue with the card is how they keep the same name while changing both the terms and the price. They changed that fine print, but I feel like they should've came out with a new name for the card and discontinued the Premier. If they did that, it would've prevented confusion but I think they may have done that intentionally to benefit from previous info posted online.

Those 'multiple people' were stupid, b/c the old terms were clear that the stack would work. The new terms, which that other poster shared and are operative on new applications, are just as clear that the stack no longer works. Your experiences, as well as anyone's IHG card application experience pre-this past Thursday, are irrelevant. The relevant experiences to consider now are people who applied for Sapphire cards, or personal Southwest cards, which have the same rule.

The point is that with the refresh this week, Chase got rid of the old rules, and implemented a Sapphire-style card family rule. The terms are clear on that.

I don't care enough to know that chase had a refresh.

TL;DR: Don't apply for the new card because you're too late according to this site.

Applied today and card approved even though I already have the IHG legacy $49 card. Both cards are now showing in my chase account. Will see if I still end up with the 140K Points sign up bonus though.

I've been informed that some people who have the $49 legacy card have been forced to accept the new terms or annual fee (of $99). I, myself, still have not received such notice.

As nice as the 140k points would be, the fact you might still be able to hold both is nice. I'd be afraid to see the one end up getting cancelled and it be considered an upgrade, but somebody took the plunge to test it so I'm looking forward to the outcome. Depending on your booking style/frequency, holding both can be a great combo. I only buy points when they're a half penny each (BOGO@1¢/ea).

For example, say you book 4 nights at a 20k/night hotel, it costs 60k to book after your 4th night free ($300 total), then you get 10% back for a total of $270 for the 4 nights. Once factoring in the 2% back I get from my Citi Double Cash on purchasing them, it's another $6 back, $264 total, plus I get another 10% back again when I use the 6k I get back for that booking. Not that the next 600 points back is much, but it adds up.

Sorry for the long explanation, but I'm trying to point out the pros and the way to book if your travel situation is similar to mine. It beats having a timeshare IMO, I travel affordably, I'm treated well as a platinum elite and I only buy as many points as I need for the year/travel on my terms.

Plus, the $49 & $99 fees are (to me) worth the 2 free nights each year along with the free Global Entry/TSA Pre.

I have had the premier card in the past, I canceled several months ago. Can I apply again and receive the 140,000 bonus points again? or is a one time offer?

Just saw this:

This product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any IHG® Rewards credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any IHG® Rewards credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.

I will just sign up for the business card as it states:

This new cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this business credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this business credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this business credit card within the last 24 months.
