Good to see these deals coming up pretty often now. Still a bit high for my tastes, but getting close.

I love how the specs on Amazon say the interface is USB v1.1.

If you're going to shuck an 18TB, Reds (NAS grade) and Golds (Enterprise grade) have been very close to this price frequently lately, will be more reliable, and don't need to be shucked.

I missed the $270 deal on Golds but still happily bought 2x at $300 each to get my Unraid setup into a more sensible configuration. Previously I'd had a shucked SMR as my parity drive... yeesh

EDIT: The $270 deal was for 16TB Golds, not 18TB. Sorry about that; I still have 18TB on the brain but I ended up locking into a 16TB-based setup due to my needing drives enough at the time to have picked a good deal on High Quality 16TB'ers rather than waiting for a smoking-hot deal on Good Enough 18TB'ers.

Exos due to warranty but be careful. I grabbed a x18 16Tb and it didn't have a warranty. Had to return it for a x16. Lots of sellers are being shady.

Bought 2 of the 16Tb WD Gold drives last week direct from westerndirect.com. Got 12% (tracked but not available to spend yet) via PayPal offers via their website. Drives are formatting now, projected to take 21 hours…

Wait.. what do you mean by this? I just gotten a few Exos 16TB x18 myself. The person you quoted deleted their post.

Had an "Abandon Cart Email 15% OFF" coupon and got the drive $265 after-tax, not bad.

Newegg sells the 18TB Exos for $320 with a 5-year warranty. The WD Elements drives might be binned lower quality due to the 2-year warranty. This isn't a great deal.

There was a 18TB gold deal for $270? When was that or do you have an SD link?
