In the title it does say atmos speakers. But in the description it's 'atmos ready'.. s809 are the regular floor speakers without the atmos add ons. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's a BIG misleading mistake for adorama and for SDers.

I just got these from a package from Adorama. I'm in the middle of a lengthy and very frustrating exchange process because I was sent open speakers, marked as new that were missing the grills. And since they were opened the styrofoam was not structurally sound and the speakers took a lot of big hits during the UPS delivery. This was all after calling immediately after delivery and having the UPS driver on video admitting the box was beat to hell when he got on his truck for the delivery. Their exchange/return process is very frustrating. Still waiting for my new speakers which "this request is still subject for approval".

TLDR; I'm not happy with Adorama and their customer service if you run into issues.

For the money, these can't be beat. I've got these, the matching center channel, and the bookshelf surrounds. I bought these to tide me over until I finish my budget/planning on my $10k home theater system, and I was extremely impressed.

I never would've given this brand a shot were it not for the deep discount. So instead of the company spending crazy money on advertising that may or may not work, some brands will sell sets cheaply on occasion to deal shoppers or home theater enthusiasts like me. The word of mouth and ability for friends and customers to hear my system is better advertising than ads would be, in my opinion.

Yes if you want atoms you must buy the additional speakers that cost $199.99. They sit on top of these tower speakers and plug into them.

You would need the atmos upfiring modules sold separately that fit on top of these towers. a flat ceiling for the sound to bounce off, an AVR that supports atmos: 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2 etc--third # being how many atmos channels supported (in this case 2 for the two that fit on top of each L & R), and you will need atmos content movies/shows and a player or streaming box that supports atmos. For a better experience you could get a center speaker or a center and surround backs preferably of the same brand and series for more seamless sound.

I have these, plus the larger matching center channel, larger surround bookshelves , and subwoofer all from Jamo. I love the package as a 5.1 channel system and for $500 plus tax wouldn't choose anything else.

Yes you do. These are passive tower speakers that require a receiver.

You would need to buy the separate atmos up- firing module made by jamo the accompany these if you want the height element of Dolby Atmos. They are nice in that you wire tower and atmos height add on both from bottom of the tower speaker and the height element just sits on top.

Just so everyone is aware, upfiring speakers are not anywhere close to true Atmos. They're a limited case workaround for people who can't mount speakers to their ceiling (proper Atmos spec).

Just because you have the extra speakers, doesn't mean the sound is getting where it should.

Consider your ceiling and speaker placement before you invest in them.

If your ceiling is sloped, too high, covered in popcorn, or the wrong base material, all you're going to be doing is upfiring your money into thin air.
