There's no way around it these laptops will throttle stock no matter what. You can do tweaks like capping wattage on cpu and gpu to prevent this. Unless you're doing cpu only tasks, going over 35w or 45w shows very little advantage in 90% of games except making a lot more heat. The speakers are garbage compared to a similar msi or Alienware, build quality is not too bad but nothing great. Reading the forums eluktronics support is hit or miss and don't listen to any of the youtubers pushing these. They will get priority customer service us normal people wouldn't if something goes wrong.

These are good laptops for the money and I am still considering them, but people hold this company up like they are a special little start up shaking things up. They are just a company selling a Chinese mass produced chassis and board. They have not done anything unique.

Anyone know if the 150 watt total TGP listed on this is accurate? The Ryzen 9 version of the Prometheus lists it as 165 watt TGP. I'm wondering if one of those two is incorrect or if they somehow enabled/allowed a slightly higher tgp for the ryzen (maybe it was released a little more recently than this Intel version or something)?

I grabbed the Ryzen 9 for the 1999 price and I'm happy with that, but seeing as a 1 tb Ssd isn't ideal for what I want, if I can get a laptop for $200 less and just assume I'll lose the 512gb ssd, I'd be down. I think ultimately I'd prefer the specs on the Ryzen model, but just curious if anyone else caught the difference in the TGP between the two or knows why.

Thanks all! Good enough of a deal to grab one if you need a gaming laptop at 17.3" for sure.

This is 150W. Prometheus is a heavier and thicker Laptop which can handle more heat. This is a very slim and light laptop, weighting lesser than most 15.6-16 inch laptops.

They offer unparalleled performance for the form factor AND always have fully upgradable ram, mux, best software ever, etc..

Ugh.. thank you.. Somehow my slickdeals app showed me a pic of the Prometh post, instead of the Max laptop. Didn't notice this was the Max 17. Thought it was the Intel version of the Prometheus on Eluk's site that was a 2tb ssd and 3080 with i7 card for 1999 and thought they dropped it and offered a smaller hard drive version (much like there is a used 512gb version of the Ryzen model on amazon right now for 1700ish instead of the $2k model with 1tb from a few days ago).

Apologies for the mixup
