I have around 15-20 zooz devices. If you get the 700 series, with a 700-series stick, make 100% certain the firmware is upgraded to 7.17. This isn't a zooz issue, but a silicon labs issue, which makes the controllers for Z-wave devices across brands. I think zooz is shipping upgraded sticks now, but double check when you integrate it. The upgrade process is relatively easy. Without the upgrade, the nodes go down, need pinged, reintegrated...it's a real pain. Silicon labs rolled out the 700 series a little too quick, but it's working fine after the upgrade.

Zooz support is top notch. They've helped me with some 3-way wiring quirks. Very responsive.

These look like The Smartest House's everyday prices (at least they were at the beginning of 2022.) The ZEN71 on/off light switch was about $23 last time it was actually on sale

Considering Zooz own Smarthouse, I never consider these sales a deal. Yes, they are discounted, but you also control stock and pricing. When you also fact in you can find similar items for far less in some cases, I always ask, "Why Zooz".

They should just offer free shipping everyday and at that point, you know exactly what you are getting for your dollar.

They already do that on their Amazon store. By not pricing each item to cover individual shipping charges, they can let you save a little extra money on orders over $100.

I like their sensors but the battery life with their 2 supplied batteries was only 6 months. Their batteries looked cheap so I cant attest to the real battery life. People complained the temperature was off a bit and I am inclined to agree.

I used a Nortek GoControl stick on my Synology DS920 and Home Assistant running in a VM once and it worked. I eventually moved it back to a Raspberry Pi4 because the Synology NAS CPU wasn't very good at running VMs.

I have the Zooz Zwave 700 stick and it's good---I would get it at this price again if I needed it. Response time from Z-Wave devices improved by about 100-200ms or so.

I've heard you can't pass any USB devices to home assistant when running on a Synology NAS. Could be wrong though as I've never tried

Works decent on my HA setup, im using a HA Blue for the host. It's one of the better sticks out there.

Oh - make sure you are getting the right stick.
Per me e-mailing thesmartesthouse:

"The ZST10-700 is the latest version of the ZST10 - it has the latest 700 series Z-Wave chip. Here are the main advantages of the new ZST10 700 over the ZST10 (500-series):
A newer Z-Wave library to support all of the command class libraries.
SmartStart ready so it could be easier to include if your hub supports SmartStart.
Up to 1000-feet range and faster communication."

You want the one thats $27.95

This is not correct BTW. I bought various Zooz devices at the last Winter sale and have been checking weekly for the same prices, they have been higher until this sale.

I had the same experience with the ZEN51 and ZEN52 relays, I had to update firmware and get help regarding 3-way wiring - Zooz support is fantastic.

I use ZWaveJS2MQTT inside of Home Assistant - very simple to do an over the air update of firmware, the only quirk was that I had to exclude and re-include the device to get it to work correctly.

Earlier today I actually ordered 8 of their toggle dimmers which are 700 series. I have a 500 series z-stick and wasn't planning on getting a new controller. Would one be needed for these to work. I was assuming that I'd just not get the 700 series benefit.

I have a lot of very old Z-wave devices on my network. About 25 are Intermatic from 15 years ago when they went on fire sale when they exited the Z-wave market. I even have some of their stuff new in the box. These new Zooz dimmers are for phasing out those old HA20 dimmers which don't work with LED lights.
