Quartz is great if you want a set it and forget it mentality. Much more accurate and Cheaper maintenance. Usually are less thick than a mechanical as well. Can be more durable with less worries. A quartz watch technically does a better job of telling you the time. Mechanical watches though are more like a piece of art. There is craftsmanship that goes into making a mechanical watch (some much more than others). If you do not care much about that part, go quartz. To me, the biggest part of this deal is sapphire. Any time you can get sapphire near this price point it is worthwhile. I own some mechanical watches and some quartz watches. I often grab my trusty tag formula 1 quartz. It looks good, is always ready to go, and can take a beating.

I have this exact same watch that I bought a little over a decade ago as college grad present to myself. I considered its to be one of the best present to myself since it's still my daily driver to this day! The band is pretty beat up but since the face is sapphire crystal it looks like the day I bought it.

Highly recommend this beautiful watch!

Nothing is wrong. It's like an abacus vs a calculator. An automatic watch is basically a mechanical watch (like the abacus). It stores energy from you winding the crown, or from kinetic movement (from you swinging your arm while you walk), and uses that energy to operate. A quartz (the calculator) requires solar or battery. Quartz is more accurate, but much cheaper to produce. An automatic watch might have only 35-120 hour power reserve before it needs you to give it more energy (wind it). A quartz will go a few years on battery power. A fancy automatic movement can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. They are like engineering + art. They can be extremely complex. They can be a pain in the ass, lots can go wrong when you have many moving parts, hence cheap ones don't hold power for very long or are inacurate. If you see the second hand ticking every second, it is most likely a quartz watch. If you see it "sweeping" it is most likely an automatic watch but there are some quartz watches that "sweep" like an automatic from Bulova and Seiko/grand Seiko. Quartz is nice if you don't want to worry about dealing with your watch. Just set it and forget it. Don't wear it for a few weeks, no problem it's still ticking with accuracy. Automatics are more like a pet, requiring a bit more from the user. Any high end watch Rolex, Omega, Tudor, RM, Grand Seiko, AP, Patek, is all about automatics for the most part.

If by sweep seconds hand you mean automatic, then yes.

That is pretty funny. Plastic watches that aren't even sold out. It's like the PS5 all over again.

If going Swiss may as well go for an automatic
For quartz movement I tend to stick to Japanese (Seiko, Citizen)
my 2 cents

Bruh a PS5 is functional and is a great console at least. This just seems like a shitty plastic amazon watch that would have sold for 60-80 bucks but the branding and marking inflates the value

This isn't, but neither is the MoonSwatch (it's quartz). The question that was being answered is whether Tissot makes an automatic, and they do, but this isn't it

Tissot is part of the Swatch group, so for all we know this has the exact same movement as a MoonSwatch (the Omega/Swatch collab)

I'm not saying this to troll or anything, but why would I spend any money on a quartz movement? I'm genuinely asking

Edit: thank you for whoever downvoted my question 🙏

What's wrong with Quartz movement? And what does it mean for a watch to NOT be automatic?
