It's old but still good. The newer version is really mostly a software update. That being said, the screen is low res and only has 8 colors, making this (and the newer 55) feel older than say a 2018 Fitbit Versa. Still a solid watch with over half of the features from Garmin's latest and greatest watches.
Of course, my praise here is assuming you want the entry-level Forerunner series and not a 245 with onboard music, a hiking watch, or watch with better resolution and Garmin Pay like the Venu Sq.
DC Rainmaker's review of the latest version, Forerunner 55, has the full list of differences between the 45 and 55, but most of them are software changes (and the 55 is slated for a few more changes soon with Connect IQ System 5). For some people pool swimming mode, Stryd data field, racing plans, Bluetooth heart rate broadcast to treadmills, etc. will be a big deal, and if you are that picky you should also consider their higher end watches, but to a lot of people those changes aren't a big deal.
Unlike an apple watch or other smart watch, these fitness first watches will easily go 10 years without slowing down. Also the 45 is still the best starter fitness watch out there.
Used a 10 dollar promo on top of the deal price for signing up to their email/text alerts. I'm sure I can just unsubscribe now. Paid $79. 👍

I run with the Garmin 35, and the 45 looks like a nice update. I bought a refurbished Garmin running watch off BuyDig in the past and it survived years of daily use.
Yes it came out in 2019 but all the recent comparisons I found online indicate that it compares pretty well with the new crop of budget Garmin watches. I went for it as an inexpensive first go at smart watches.

Been looking for a Garmin GPS running watch to replace my now worn out Forerunner10, your comment was helpful. Thx. This a significant savings from new on Amazon.
I've purchased refurbed Nikon Binocs from Buydig, wasn't disappointed.
