Dear My Best Buy® member,
Thank you for being a part of My Best Buy. We would like to inform you of the updated Terms and Conditions, including changes to the dispute resolution terms, coming to the My Best Buy program on May 3, 2022 (View updated My Best Buy program Terms here).
In an effort to simplify the program, we will be consolidating the Elite Plus, Elite and My Best Buy tiers into a single tier. On May 3, 2022, My Best Buy members in the Elite and Elite Plus tier will be moved into the standard My Best Buy program*.
We are also updating how points are displayed within the program. My Best Buy members will earn 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases (0.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy® and Participating Properties.
As a My Best Buy Credit Cardmember, you will earn 5% back* in rewards on qualifying net purchases (2.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy and Participating Properties made with your Card when selecting standard credit. In addition, you will have the exclusive benefit of banking* your points until you're ready to issue a My Best Buy reward certificate. If your preferences are currently set to points-banking, we'll keep the preferences saved for you if your Card account remains open.

Same here, if an item I was shopping for was the same price, I would go out of my way to shop at Best Buy. I guess I can buy anywhere now, Costco, Amazon, Microcenter, doesn't matter. Also tried to shop at Best Buy to maintain elite plus status.
It's to push people to the Total Tech membership. That's only $200 a year, gives quite a few benefits (60 day returns, 2 day shipping, up to two year warranty on almost all items,etc) and is less per year than say buying just to meet the Elite or Elite + threshold.
Personally, I have had both Elite + for the past few years,and got Total Tech when that launched.
If you were okay spending $3500+ just to meet Elite + status, this is actually cheaper. It does suck to lose the points bonus, but I've also got the BB card so it doesn't hurt me as bad.
I disagree. If you have their credit card, it's easy to get to 3500 spend considering it pays 2% cash back on groceries, 3% on gas and there are other bonuses sprinkled through the year.

Oh damn. I misread the email - I thought everyone gets to bank as part of the "simplification". No, only credit card holders can bank. Damn that sucks
best bet is to never be loyal, so you are never at the mercy of one company.

As I've said, I just use their credit card to get to 3500. Easy to do with their cash back promotions.
Its march and im at 11k already with $100 in points banked. Im not going to buy from best buy for a 14 day return window. Ill do amazon or anywhere else. Also.. no shipping benefit.. again.. ill order elsewhere if its slower. They are shooting themself in the foot. This stuff kills companies.
Ill switch to a different primary credit card over this. I dont do 14 day return policies.
