First post but just got this in my inbox, thought other would want to know about it:

Dear My Best Buy® member,

Thank you for being a part of My Best Buy. We would like to inform you of the updated Terms and Conditions, including changes to the dispute resolution terms, coming to the My Best Buy program on May 3, 2022 (View updated My Best Buy program Terms here).

In an effort to simplify the program, we will be consolidating the Elite Plus, Elite and My Best Buy tiers into a single tier. On May 3, 2022, My Best Buy members in the Elite and Elite Plus tier will be moved into the standard My Best Buy program*.

We are also updating how points are displayed within the program. My Best Buy members will earn 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases (0.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy® and Participating Properties.

As a My Best Buy Credit Cardmember, you will earn 5% back* in rewards on qualifying net purchases (2.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy and Participating Properties made with your Card when selecting standard credit. In addition, you will have the exclusive benefit of banking* your points until you're ready to issue a My Best Buy reward certificate. If your preferences are currently set to points-banking, we'll keep the preferences saved for you if your Card account remains open.

Thank you for being a My Best Buy Cardmember. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 1‑888‑BEST BUY (1‑888‑237‑8289).

What do we loose with missing elite categories?

1 additional % or rewards (Minimal)
Same day/Priority shipping (Moderate)
Extended return period (Significant)

Anything else that I can't think of?

Is it due to extended return and people simply above it by returning it at end of 50-60 days period with elite plus for eg, and also possibly getting price match within the return window? So they want to limit it to 14 days for all so most of the return and price match costs were saved for BB?
No more banking unless you have their credit card. It means you can save rewards for bigger purchases. You have to drive to the store to spend $5 reward that you earn. LMAO

Remember those unbanked certificates expire

I've read most comments and I will add that people seem to be missing the glaring point that Best Buy is doing this for.

It's to push people to the Total Tech membership. That's only $200 a year, gives quite a few benefits (60 day returns, 2 day shipping, up to two year warranty on almost all items, etc) and is less per year than say buying just to meet the Elite or Elite + threshold.

Personally, I have had both Elite + for the past few years, and got Total Tech when that launched.

If you were okay spending $3500+ just to meet Elite + status, this is actually cheaper. It does suck to lose the points bonus, but I've also got the BB card so it doesn't hurt me as bad.
Well most people here probably price match to other retailers, so it's the added bonus/ discount we get when consolidate our purchases to Worst Buy. After a month, it's an all out war between retailers.

Wow. Best Buy keeps taking away any incentive I have to buy there. First they eliminated the gamers club, which I gladly paid for, then they shortened return policy to 7 days unless you are elite or elite plus. Now they eliminate those tiers?! Meanwhile Amazon has made it easier to return things and Costco sure hasn't restricted things. Do they really think that reducing service is beneficial for their business?

Our local Best Buy closed last month with no announcement. You only knew because the sign was gone. It's a sinking ship. They've had opportunities to save the business and they keep blowing it.

Probably not. I don't think that points/certificates worked on gift cards. I know that trade credit did when their trade program was going full swing. They closed that loophole a long time ago.

Even trying to use one of the surprise freebie certificates is blocked for use on anything but actual merchandise anymore.

My big purchase of the year was a gaming laptop. I've been watching for a deal at Best Buy, but now I spent $1600 at B&H because I don't have to meet my goal. I believe they will be losing a lot of sales like mine. Time to short the stock?

Buy something with it, then walk in and return it. When you return it ask for store credit. The store credit won't expire.

I dont understand how people are loyal to certain companies

best bet is to never be loyal, so you are never at the mercy of one company.

what do you guys buy from best buy each year to total $3500??
If you have their credit card ANY purchase counts towards the $3500... best buy or otherwise. I hit $3500 in about 2 months...
