First post but just got this in my inbox, thought other would want to know about it:

Dear My Best Buy® member,

Thank you for being a part of My Best Buy. We would like to inform you of the updated Terms and Conditions, including changes to the dispute resolution terms, coming to the My Best Buy program on May 3, 2022 (View updated My Best Buy program Terms here).

In an effort to simplify the program, we will be consolidating the Elite Plus, Elite and My Best Buy tiers into a single tier. On May 3, 2022, My Best Buy members in the Elite and Elite Plus tier will be moved into the standard My Best Buy program*.

We are also updating how points are displayed within the program. My Best Buy members will earn 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases (0.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy® and Participating Properties.

As a My Best Buy Credit Cardmember, you will earn 5% back* in rewards on qualifying net purchases (2.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy and Participating Properties made with your Card when selecting standard credit. In addition, you will have the exclusive benefit of banking* your points until you're ready to issue a My Best Buy reward certificate. If your preferences are currently set to points-banking, we'll keep the preferences saved for you if your Card account remains open.

Thank you for being a My Best Buy Cardmember. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 1‑888‑BEST BUY (1‑888‑237‑8289).

End of an era for bestbuy. Just like they did with the Sears shop your ways points
Remember when they used to give you SYW Points when you made Uber Eats orders? I never understood how that promotion came to be, but I ended up probably getting a couple hundred from it.

Haven't shopped there in several years, looks like I've no reason to ever go back really. Gotta find all the GC/SC I've accrued over the years and use em up before they go under I guess. They've not had anything I've really wanted in quite some time and the G level LG OLED isn't anywhere near an acceptable price.

Online sales are the future for Best Buy, which means to-home shipping. They killed the free shipping benefit on the higher tiers. I think that's the most obvious reason they are doing this, and then they can push TotalTech of course. I think this will not end the way they want it to, but maybe that's why I'm not a CEO?

Retail stores closing left and right and stores keep pushing up and out their free shipping programs.

Best Buy and GameStop are terrible about shipping. You spend $35 on GameStop for free shipping on 5 games and they send you 5 packages via FedEx. Best Buy you order a $10 video game and they deliver it via currier in 2 hours free. You want to get costs under control? Ship more economically.

as others mentioned, I mostly shopped at Best Buy to reach elite plus status.

Is there somewhere that we can take a survey like gamestop?
when gamestop decided not to allow $5 monthly code to be used on the psn, eshop, xbox currency, I mentioned that we should fill out a survey and voice our opinions.

I'll be emailing the email a few posts above.

Yeah, no Elite Plus, no reason to stay with them! I'll get an Apple Card and keep Amazon Prime, get better payback an features! They are definitely shooting themselves in the foot.
Guess in 4 years, Best Buy going out of Business sale.

while you do not pay for the core my best buy program i did make sure to spend $3500 a year (which was kind of a cost) where possible to reach the elite plus tier for the free one day shipping and 45 day returns and getting 6% back on the best buy credit card. Without the benefits or the incentive to hit that annual goal i will likely spend a fraction of that each year at best buy.

Yeah I'm hoping when sales fall off the cliff they will rethink this. I spent $1k already and will absolutely not spend the annual 3,500 ( more ) I have been spending at best buy .

I definitely prefer to get the item I order in one piece versus getting it quickly, which is why I only rarely order from Amazon as some orders appeared to have been just tossed in a box or large mailer with insufficient padding.

Though sometimes it's not the store or sites fault as some of the shipping companies take the most asinine routes to deliver it.

My Best Buy Credit Card goes back in the drawer. I liked the 3% for groceries. I guess the EBay credit card goes in my wallet.

My guess is that they ran the numbers and found that their typical Elite customer was less profitable than a regular customer.

Elite customers may be more likely to utilize their banked points for large discounts (vs. all those $5 auto-redeemed ones that probably go to waste), return a higher percentage of their purchases (with the extended period), and use the free shipping more often vs. picking up in-store.

So those of us thinking Best Buy is going to miss its Elite shoppers...probably the other way around. They're thinking "good riddance. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out."

Looking back at last year, I made it to Elite, but almost all of my purchases were either items on sale or price matched. And, with the pandemic, I had almost everything delivered since I'm not driving by the store daily.
