First post but just got this in my inbox, thought other would want to know about it:

Dear My Best Buy® member,

Thank you for being a part of My Best Buy. We would like to inform you of the updated Terms and Conditions, including changes to the dispute resolution terms, coming to the My Best Buy program on May 3, 2022 (View updated My Best Buy program Terms here).

In an effort to simplify the program, we will be consolidating the Elite Plus, Elite and My Best Buy tiers into a single tier. On May 3, 2022, My Best Buy members in the Elite and Elite Plus tier will be moved into the standard My Best Buy program*.

We are also updating how points are displayed within the program. My Best Buy members will earn 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases (0.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy® and Participating Properties.

As a My Best Buy Credit Cardmember, you will earn 5% back* in rewards on qualifying net purchases (2.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy and Participating Properties made with your Card when selecting standard credit. In addition, you will have the exclusive benefit of banking* your points until you're ready to issue a My Best Buy reward certificate. If your preferences are currently set to points-banking, we'll keep the preferences saved for you if your Card account remains open.

Thank you for being a My Best Buy Cardmember. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 1‑888‑BEST BUY (1‑888‑237‑8289).

They just renovated my Best Buy and it strangely looks like just the final years of fry's electronics inside.

They expanded the online pick up and added a pick up locker. While the rest of the store just looks like warehouse aisles in a furnished building.

Just sucks since I opened up the credit card last year since I need some appliance refreshes and chose BB over Costco.
just close bb cc and open costco.

I did, and dont regret

I have a 800 score or so, I closed ALL my credit cards, like 6 of them, and opened up 2 cards.

Citi double cash - 2% back as my everyday user
Citi costco card- 2% back and adds warranties onto of costco stuff, ie. 7 years on tv's if you have costco executive.

having costco executive + costco cc is dope, and the cc has your pic/info on it. dont have to carry multiple cards.

anyway. I recommend it. I got a 12k credit limit on both cards (24k total) immediately on opening. The app is convenient, the customer service is good, I like it.

correction, not 12k each, but close

Aw lucky you. I don't have executive membership. Too expensive for my needs. I don't buy lots of bulk items. Just olive oil, lettuce, spinach, eggs, meats, diapers, toilet papers and paper towel. That's it. I rarely buy anything else but do spend $ on gas there. Problem is that my car is a Prius and rarely take more
Than 8 gals. Guess it make sense now as I share my POV.

Its still worth it though, you dont need executive, its just you double rewards, instead of 2% back, you get 4% back. if I dropped to regular membership id still use this card. I had some large purchases, refrigerator etc so it was in my best interest to have executive, paid for itself.

if someone wants to double warranties, get 2% back on costco purchases, and want a good cc. its a solid one. I wouldnt push anyone away from it.

im pretty sure costco card gives 4% back on gas for those who guzzle gas. at any gas station, except sams club, and I think grocery store gas. I could be mistaken. idk. I use double cash card for gas everywhere, I only take costco CC into costco.

This is my mathematical findings. Maybe you can help or convince me otherwise Smilie I'm just throwing numbers for sake of the example:

$6 per gallon of gas x 7 gallons to refuel = $42.00

$42.00 x 0.04(%) = $1.68

If I refuel it twice a month then it would be $84 (assuming gas price stays at $6 AND don't refuel for more).

$84 x 26 refuels per year (52 weeks is 1 year. 52/2 = 26) = $1092.

So $1092 x 0.04(%) = $43.68 in total cash back in fuel alone…as long as I consistently use the Costco credit card. It not even closed to $60 base tier membership.

The more gas price will increase, the gradual increase in cash back. If goes down to $3 per gallon, cash back would be half off as low as $21.34 ish assuming my driving habits stays the same (unlikely) .

Then I have to factor in costs of goods and service inside Costco like house goods and tires as well.

idk man. Lol I just know I get 2% back on Citi double cash on everything, 1% when I buy, 1% when I pay.

basic membership is 2% back with costco CC and extends warranties.

and I get 4% back on costco purchases and gas stations and extends warranties.

I lied, I have one more CC. APPLE CC! its titties I use it for all my Apple Pay stuff/ it gives 3% back off my iTunes etc

before I had like 2 cc's with one company, 2 with another, 2 with another, I hated it. apple CC stays in my safe, and I only use it basically for iTunes purchases and apple purchases.

That means no more 45 days extended returns. Guess I won't be buying appliances and electronics from them anymore and getting them from Costco instead. They lost between $5k-$10k/year in revenue.

I've been elite plus for years and the benefits kept me shopping at Best Buy... guess I'll be spreading my love to other stores more frequently now. Way to discourage your best customers from giving you money.

I used to work at Geek Squad. Early 2021 they closed our store, and the reason is rent is too high. Yah sure, after record breaking revenue and stock price from 2020, you are telling me you can't afford the rent now.

No more incentives to remain an Elite or Elite Plus member...

1) No more free shipping under $35
2) No more extended returns window
3) No more point banking

So long, and thanks for all the fish,
