This right here - this is great advice. The cost of furniture is about the absolute worst thing in regards to depreciation as soon as you get it. The cost of new vs used is usually just astronomically different - like 80% off or more sometimes. And you can find great stuff - even just on Facebook or Craigslist because it's hard to move/get rid of furniture, and even harder to sell. I've seen $5k pieces given away because they just couldn't sell it.

Also a helpful hint in selling furniture - if you can't get very much for it, consider donating it and taking the tax write-off. Sometimes you may even make out better that way.

moving is indeed the reason people get rid of expensive furniture. Plus wives want something new to go with new paint color. I got a pure wood, very heavy dining set with 8 chairs for $30. I rented a truck for same amount to get it to me. Furniture pricing is absolutely ridiculous. Now i won't buy a fabric sofa, mattress etc used.

Bought one of these a couple weeks ago at this price and put it behind our sofa so the wife could do some work at night and not be hunched over on the couch. We're very happy with it, setup was super straight forward and overall it feels pretty high quality and durable.

When you see bonded leather it's best to run, not walk, the other way. They will not last and will start cracking and peeling.

We saw it at the store and loved it soo much we bought it and shoved it into the 05 mazda 3 and took it home ofcourse we had to take it out of the box ... good deal

Meh it's just the seats on the stools, not a whole couch. If it does start to go bad it's super easy to wrap something like this in cheap fabric you find at hobby lobby and make it look new.

Last summer I got 2 very similar stools for under my kitchen island, free, left on the curb. Then sold 2 very nice oak stools I had been using, with backs on them (had gotten them for $8 each). The backs took up more room than I wanted, and I like that the backless stools tuck under the island and are largely unseen.
