OP, be careful on the model numbers....

I have 4 of these 27" S80UA in my house. It took, me a while, but I finally realized there is a model WITH speakers and a model WITHOUT speakers. The model from Amazon (UNN) has speakers and the model from Samsung (UJN) does not. I ended up with 2 of each and just rearranged them where I needed speakers. As far as I can tell, the panels are identical.

As far as the monitor goes, I struggle to believe there is better value on the market currently. The speakers are excellent, panel is bright and saturated, and the quality is very good. The only downside, and I suspect why the price is low, is that some people consider 4K overkill on a 27" display so people don't want to overpay for it. Windows scaling handles that issue nicely though by enlarging the fonts and icons.

Yes if you're using 1x scaling. But if you enabled scaling it shouldn't be a problem.

Windows pretty much mastered scaling except for older applications (like Photoshop CS6). On Linux it is a nightmare (also depends on which DE you might use. I struggled with LXDE, KDE seems better). MacOS I heard it if fine as long as you're using the same scaling factor on all monitors.

This is my concern. I don't think I need 4K on 27". Would have been happy with 1440p (which might be cheaper), or 4K at 32". Plus there might be scaling problems. Indeed a great price if all the specs fit your use case especially with USB-C input.

The beauty of this monitor is all that it does, not just the fact that it's 4K. For someone with a modern laptop with USB-C charging, this monitor is a 1-cable solution that will charge your laptop (95W), add a USB-A hub, provide audio, and a large 4K screen over one cable.

I've not seen a monitor that has nice, loud speakers as this one (except maybe the new Apple Studio Display). All that for $250 is a dream. Even if you don't need all those features now, you might later!

According to Amazon reviews, many people ran into quality issues. 4.1 review rating is considered fairly mediocre on Amazon (they really should curve the reviews to demonstrate the difference between better and worse products. I wouldn't consider products below 4 and without seller manipulation, 4.5 and higher are solid). I'm on the fence…

Thanks for the clarification. The extra $13 for built-in speakers is worth it. Too bad it ships in a month or two or I'd order it. The whole reason I like this monitor is USB C. I'm looking to reduce clutter on my desk which is only 31 inches wide and my work PC is USB C powered, so I can connect with one cord.

Might be a dumb question but is there a problem with using a work computer with 4K? Like can most work computers handle outputting to 4K? Guessing it's only an issue when gaming / graphics using 4k, not for general work

The average star rating is useless and easy to manipulate- the comments are where you might find real feedback.

You just made me think of something after glancing at a couple of reviews to see if I could see what you were talking about.

This particular line of 2021 high definition monitors from Samsung has a default system setting to eco mode or something like that which dramatically reduces brightness. Soon as you turn that off, the monitors are nice and bright. That complaint is common through all of the models in the series and a questionable decision by Samsung.

There are no scaling issues in Widows. I've been running a dozen 27" 4K displays for many years now. (They used to cost $375 on sale back 7-8 years ago.) The default setting is 150% scaling and that works well.

Is 4K an overkill for a 27" panel? Maybe, depending on what you use it for. 32" would probably be better for 4K. But those screens would require pretty large desks. I use the largest standard desks available in IKEA (160cm long, 80cm deep). I feel 32" panels would require larger desks. There are some YouTube videos of people using 42" 4K panels. Now those require a really deep desk.

I'm very happy with my 27" 4K panels. They are the largest size that fit into a large suitcase boxed up, in case you want to spend the summer working from an Airbnb on the beach. I travel with them pretty regularly. You can fit two of them (boxed up) in the largest suitcase one can buy and check-in without paying excess baggage fees.

This is a great deal.

One criticism would be Samsung logo in case you wnat to use these in a vertical position as some do.
