One thing I can add just by looking at the pictures is that your hands will be very close to the plates you load on the bar. Using 5s or 10s could help space out a bit but you lose real estate on the sleeves.

These include a rubber spacer for that.

Obviously a cheap deal if you want to explore hex bars in your workouts. Read the Amazon reviews, a lot of caveats however. May work fine for beginners but more experienced lifters may want to explore better and more expensive options.

What makes ones of these "better" my wife and I are newbies. I've been looking for one of these

I ordered one of these previously and not all my bumper plates fit on the bar. The coating seemed pretty thick. My suggestion is if you get this try all your plates on the bar before assembling.

This is made of tubular steel; better bars are solid steel and weigh about 50 lb.

Range of motion: the handle height on this bar is 14", much higher than standard hex bar height of 8.75" (center of handles), and about 4" higher for hi-handle hex bars. Range of motion will be much less with this bar.

Mine came with spacers to prevent this. YMMV tho.

The 500lb weight limit would make me nervous, that's very low. The advertised limits are basically the theoretical failure limit, you generally don't won't to go over 50-60% of that number. Anything over 315lb on this would worry me, but at least it would be low to the ground when it fails.
Probably for bars only. For benches I think it's the opposite.

The downside is this is a little light (I think 20+KG is standard) and max capacity might be a little low.

In my opinion, this is perfect for starting out though. Deadlifts are going to be the heaviest lift for this shape, and reps at 315 lbs. is a very respectable beginner deadlift goal. This will accommodate that fairly easily.

It will take you a good 6 months of a good program to start outgrowing the bar, and your wife might not ever do it.

If anything that 500 lb max capacity is after the factor of safety is taken to account. So the bar can handle a bit more load before any serious bending or possible shearing.

Lol
Try measuring the range of motion of your arms while standing and holding a water bottle (0") vs holding a kettlebell (~5")
(hint its the same)

LOL
Then you should sue them because you'd have grounds to.

most legitimate companies will use a working load with multiple factors of safety
