These are great for work too if you work in a building that's constantly cold. Warming up your hands makes it easier to type.

I used some recently that I had in storage for years and they still got warm, maybe not as hot as when they were new? I think as long as the pouches aren't exposed to air they remain effective. Its basically metal oxidizing.
