Well that's fun to see it on sale so quickly after buying one at Apple.

I notice very little difference between the M1 and the prior generation of Air CPU; however, we are always on FaceTime for the kids and their grandparents. CenterStage is a winner.

What additional chargers and cables should be bought to go with this? The included one is like 3 feet. First USB-C device for me, so my existing charger and cable empire isn't compatible.

Nothing. This comes with everything you need to charge it. It has the charger and the 3 foot wire. If you are used to a longer wire than you can buy a longer one. Otherwise you are fine just with what is included.

Really? What are good chargers and longer cables to go with this? One charger and one short cable are not sufficient for me.

You will notice the benefits of M1 chip more in long term OS support rather

The question was "what you should buy" and, as stated, everything needed is in the box. Personally, I just bought one USB cable to use in the car (without the piece that plugs into the outlet) and that's enough for my needs. Amazon offers accessories on the same product page and Apple 2 m cable is what I would buy, if I needed a longer one. I've heard recommendations to buy specifically Apple or "Apple certified" (or some such) cables because the off-brand ones could potentially damage the device. I've never fact checked this and it might as well be some Big Apple propaganda. But hey, I won't risk burning $$$ device to save 10 bucks on a cable. Smilie

Better to buy the refurbished $599 Walmart iPad Pro 11-inch 2021 M1 chip version. Most slickdealers are getting like-new returned ones. 30 day return policy and they more or less always come back in stock online if you check occasionally.

Sounds like you already have experience with iPads and chargers/cables and what your needs are. Just buy the same brand and model you already have and like but with USB-C instead of USB-A and Lightning. Some people like the ones that Apple makes and just buy more of those but others hate them and rather have the thicker ones by other companies like Anker. USB-C is backwards compatible with USB-A so if you want to also continue to use your old bricks and do not need super fast charging, just buy the appropriate cable for USB-A to USB-C. If you have other devices, USB-C is starting to become the standard, so when and how much you convert to USB-C fully is a personal choice.

The "good" longer cables are the ones that cost $13 and up MSRP. The "good" chargers are the ones that typically start at $20 MSRP. Look on here yourself for deals. SD has tons of them and often the commentary will give their opinions on the build/quality.

This is SD and we like to be frugal so the answer of what you "should" buy is basically nothing unless you want extras.

Both the 4th and 5th Gen iPad Air use a SOC based off of the Apple A14. The single core performance is a tad better on the 5th Gen and the multi core performance is significantly better on the 5th Gen.
