Been looking for a good AV receiver for a while now and I found this one first on AMAZON for 223.20 + tax comes to 238.82 but takes a long time... so I went with the DENON version at the bottom.

Just an FYI... Smilie

You can connect a $20 Apple TV gen3 or any number of similarly priced Bluetooth receivers to this for wireless audio. It won't sound any different than if it was built in.

Anyway, there are so many good older used "$1000" AV receivers sitting in thrift stores for $20-$40 that would be audibly indiscernible to this. They are probably even more powerful than this one.
No, they likely won't have HDMI. Just plug your sources to the tv and connect the optical out from the tv to the older receiver.
I actually just saw an Onkyo with HDMI in a rescue mission thrift store this week for $45. It was a later generation model with the slightly concave faceplate rather than the earlier models that had the infamously bad HDMI boards.

I'm currently using a $9 Sony "ES" AVR in my bedroom system that I picked up from goodwill. It was missing its volume knob which I replaced via eBay for like $15. Built like a tank and works perfectly.
Unfortunately; this model has a poor track record as a refurb/renew, which may supersede networking options for most.
That works if you have a TV with multiple inputs.

We have a projector with a single HDMI input mounted high up on the wall on the opposite side of the room from all our input devices, so the receiver pretty much runs the show.

Remember when the X series receivers from prior year were half off in the summer. Good times.

Came here to say this. It is a good price but should be avoided by anyone that wants to stream music.

Any feedback on AVR-S750H - Refurbished? Is it Denon refurbished in general or just that model?

Like the VPN industry; there's been a lot of mergers and acquisitions over the last few years in tech. Combine that with increasing 'planned obsolescence' building into 'overt greed' ethics; and that's a cue for me to distance myself from supporting said industries.

But if you're capable of doing extensive research on your own; perhaps you'll get fortunate.

I'm in the market for a 9 channel and 7 channel AVR. I was looking towards denon. Which brand do you suggest then? I was looking at onkyo/integra as they just refreshed several AVRs but then you worry about company stability…

Voxx owns Onkyo, Pioneer, Klipsch, Energy, etc etc. I wouldn't be shocked if the new pioneer and Onkyo AVR's are very similar inside.

"Kinivo HDMI Switch 4K HDR (3 Port Switch with TOSLINK Optical SPDIF, 4K 60Hz, HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, High Speed-18Gbps, Auto-Switching, IR Remote)" on Amazon. $69

A 3 input hdmi switcher with optical out that goes to the non-hdmi receiver.

I own a projector, but I pretty much stream all my content from either full bitrate blu ray rips on my plex server or from online sources. So I essentially have 1 source...my Apple TV.

About $100 off new (LINK), not too bad if you get a good one.

The S540BT for $230.00 is a decent deal for a basic AVR. I'm gonna kick back and wait for the Onkyo 6050 to drop back down to normal prices.
