Bought this for $13 back in December. Great thing to have around the house, especially if you have kids and have to open those toy battery doors, or open up new toys since they always anchor them to the box nowadays. Great for light projects too.

I've actually been trying to restore an old B&D powered screwdriver. It's nothing special, but it has a clutch which is a nice feature and I've always liked it, plus it seemed like a fun project to maybe learn a bit about tool restoration, batteries and circuits. The original NiCd batteries died years ago and I got some 18350 cells to replace them, but I can't figure out what circuit to use, for both charge and discharge. You can't just use LiOn batteries without a circuit. Any ideas?

Black & Decker is a garbage brand these days ever since the idiot running Sears sold it off, but this actually seems like a pretty solid item and this price is less than half what most other electric screwdrivers cost.

If you don't need to get into tight spaces and only need something for occasional use, or have never used an electric screwdriver and are interested in trying one, this is a great buy.

Furniture assembly, light DIY work, basically anything you'd use a normal screwdriver for. I have a different brand but I was using mine just yesterday while I was replacing some outlets and swapping out a drawer pull in the kitchen. I could have used a manual screwdriver for both but these are much, much faster.

This particular model is unique in that is has a chuck which accepts L and S shaped hex keys in addition to standard screwdriver bits. This is really helpful if you put together ready to assemble furniture.

Black & Decker was never owned by Sears. They were always their own company, but owned several others (like DeWalt), until they merged with Stanley a decade or so ago.

Stanley B&D Corp bought Craftsman from Sears about 5 years ago.
