Thanks, I got some binoculars to look at animals in my yard and they magnify too much. Can't get them focused. I think they were 12 so maybe these will work better.

Thanks. Just getting into this, started feeding the birds and random animals show up to eat as well, so I like to check them out at night. Mostly raccoons and opossums, but I'm trying to figure out what's best. I just got some cheap binoculars but they're not good that close.

This glass fills a pretty specific need. First, it's obviously a monocular. If it's not what you're looking for, then it's not going to work for you. Second, it's good glass in a standard size.
So yeah, you can get a smaller pair of binos, or you can get something that's cheaper/smaller, but you probably won't get a better monocular for less, and you can get a pricey pair of compact binos, but I'm not sure if it'll provide the objective superiority over this (and you'll be spending probably $500+).
Lastly, most decent binos can focus down pretty far, so you're either talking about something really close, or your pair is just not adequate.
