Might as well just buy a car seat from buybuybaby and use their 20% off coupon all day long. Buybuybaby also have a stackable promo running currently on car seats…$25 reward if you spend $100, $50 reward if you spend $200, etc.

Edit: the additional MyFund reward promo ended 2 days ago. The same promo comes back every month or two from what I've seen so far.

I would assume new safety regulations and plastic deterioration are some reasons...also....I'm sure there is some greed weaved in there as well

Safety is constantly evolving and for how long these sit in super hot and cold cars over the years straining against the belt, they really should be replaced eventually

They expire for a number of reasons, including wear and tear, changing regulations, recalls, and the limits of manufacturer testing. This goes for any number of safety equipment as well, like helmets for motorcycling (which I recall should be replaced every 5 years).
