The 3s are traditional AirPods that just sit in the ear. They sound great but they don't seal out external sound as well as the Pros (a good thing if you are running and you need to hear what going on around you). But they are lousy for noisy places like an airplane cabin in flight. This is why I. have (had) both.
But rumor is the AirPod Pro 2s are coming this fall, which is why I'm on the fence about replacing my original Pros. (I could buy a right bud at Apple for $90). I will probably buy the Pro 2s so unless I can find a real steal I'll probably do without for a few months. I'll survive.

If you need a pair today, yes, it's one of the best prices going. Pros and 3s are very different - I have both (or had both until I lost one of my Pro buds). Pros are great for casual use and especially when you want to seal off ambient noise, like in airplanes. But they form a seal in the ear canal some don't like. They also are not great for running because, like all sealed earbuds, they cause one to hear their thumps as their foot lands on the ground.

You have any idea what improvements might be for the Pros 2?
Apparently they are working on true lossless audio via wireless and might ditch bluetooth because of the bottleneck.
That would suck as I connect my pros to my windows desktop sometimes via Bluetooth. Are you saying v2 wouldn't work on Bluetooth devices going forward?

Its all rumors at this time but they'll have dual standards meaning bluetooth plus some thing else. Like the new Xbox controllers.
Honestly, I'd even try a Jlab in-ear before the Pro for fit alone...
No worries. You can always price match at AAFES as well so if anything is cheaper at Amazon just give them a call and they will adjust it.
