I have this. Got it a while back. If you don't need the compact design then I'd advise against this one if you use it frequently. It vibrates so much that it is uncomfortable. I only got bought it due to a sale and others told me what I'm saying now and wish I would have listened to them.

Edit: no thumbs down for me on price but just giving awareness to realistic expectations
.
It has the standard 1-1/8" blade stroke and out of 4 (or more brands) we have, this tool does not vibrate excessively more than the rest, but and why we purchased, fits into tighter places. Depending on model, the Bosch and especially the Milwaukee with a counter balancing flywheel do have less vibration, but not enough to justify the price when these could be had for $99 last November.

For storage, we bought several of the DeWalt T-stack boxes [amazon.com] on a deal for $16 each delivered (Stanley is identical) and used the foam inserts [amazon.com] that are often on sale for less than $10. You do have to remove the blade, but everything fits.

==================
I got this one a year or two ago. The main thing I like about it is how it fits into my tool box. Otherwise, as said elsewhere, it vibrates uncomfortably way more than it should, probably because of a shorter blade stroke length. Gets the job done, but you need to focus more attention on how the tool is positioned and its foot plate is pressed against the cut surface to reduce the vibration.

dang! I wish i would have gotten it then.

i've never seen the price this low for the actual XR 20v one. I've seen it that low for the other models, but not this one.

FYI this is still hackable for less on Home Depot

Update: not hack able anymore. I did get it last week.

The DCS382B is still hackable for <$100 and is arguably a better saw

The additional saws we purchased past November through SlickDeals (thanks again Corwin) were $99 each, delivered with no sales tax. And they never made it to FP. Nevertheless, I don't find this tool vibrates (1) anymore than any other similar reciprocating saw and fits in places that most cannot.

With ongoing currency debasement caused inflation, what is a deal today? Many presumed that once the huge backlog of ships that missed Christmas were unloaded, the plentiful supply of deals would last through about March. I guess if you need it, this is the deal today.

(1) DeWalt and others tend to struggle with vibration control with any of their reciprocating saws with 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" stroke, but that comes with faster cutting speeds. Put the plate tightly against what is being cut and the vibration is greatly minimized. If one wants less vibration, perhaps the Atomic DCS369 [dewalt.com] would be an option at the expense of slower cutting speed by having about half (5/8") the blade stroke.

Have had one of these for the past two years in my business. Landscaping so alot of pruning but also excels at cutting root structures. It's compact as people said and gets the job done. Only thing is it eats the battery pretty quickly.

What do I need to do to "hack it" below 100?

Does it really vibrate like crazy as people say or is that exaggeration?

It's a real thing. You can to keep the saw firmly pressed against what you're cutting. The saw is great for demo work.

These are compact, light weight, and pretty powerful. Those 3 qualities make it a bit harder to control. The saw would benefit from a power selector wheel rather than a trigger control. The 4 position chuck is really good though.

There's pros and cons.

Home Depot has a bunch of combos where you buy a tool and get the battery free (but they are considered separate items in the cart). So when you checkout, you select the tool you want for pickup and the battery for delivery. This gives a discount on the tool. Once you place your order, you then cancel the battery. The discount still applies (you only get charged for the tool portion but with a discount).

The saw in my example came out to $97.70 pre tax.

You can also do delivery for the tool and pickup for the battery and then just never pickup the battery since it eventually expires (website only lets you cancel delivery orders, but you can call/text their customer support and they will cancel it for you, I live next to a HD so it never bothered me to pick up the tool).

Edit: confused about the downvotes, this is a very common thing and is often a top voted thread on slick deals, at least monthly for years. This isn't unethical, Home Depot knows about it and doesn't care.

Yes, it vibrates much more than my other non-compact, non-brushless Dewalt reciprocating saw and my corded Milwaukee Sawzall. When I lend it out, people always comment on the vibration or shaking caused by its blade stroke. Using a large (heavy) battery, sharp blade, and keeping its foot plate pushed against the cut surface helps reduce the vibration. Otherwise, it's been a great saw.
