I've had this keyboard for 3 years (bought it for $99 on sale). No problems hardware-wise. Software is God-awful, I loaded a color set onto the keyboard then deleted the software.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like Gamma Zulu switches are great for gaming but for professional use they aren't the best.

review of thw switches.
Review from over 3 years ago and the keyboard is close to 4 years old. A lot has changed since then. I would take this review with a big grain of salt. From what I've heard from the keyboard nerds Das Keyboard has been slipping. Lots of competition now.

Not saying this is a bad keyboard but do your research before blind buying this.

They're ABS but most keyboards in this price range use ABS keycaps so they can upsell you on the PBT keycaps later on.

ADDED EDIT: I should mention I know this keyboard (X50Q) and the 5Q in the review aren't the same keyboard but they use the same switches which as far as I can tell aren't hot-swappable. The Anandtech review has pretty mixed things to say about the quality of the switches and that was over 3 years ago before the explosion of available switches.

I would skip this and get a Ducky with Cherry MX switches. High quality made in Taiwan and they come with very nice double shot PBT caps.

Bought it back in Feb when it dropped to 99, so 115 is not that a good deal. Also got the free WASD Keycap Set after giving them my email address.

I do coding/typing all day, and it feels alright. A couple things: it's more bouncing than my Razer Huntsman, so my fingers get tired sooner. I sometimes found the faint "echo" sound annoying. It happens after each key strike, like you are tapping on a metal plate -- well, it's indeed made mostly from metal so it's not a big surprise.

I've had a great experience with Keychron keyboards. The new ones have QMK for extra configurability and also a knob, which I find indispensable now.

I would never buy Das Keyboard again.

Jumped on their kickstarter for a premium Keyboard. It arrived 2 years later than projected and they gave really bad support for their buggy as hell product.

Das is fine, but honestly Varmillo, Ducky, or Keychron is a better use of your money.

I tried a Das Keyboard some years back, it failed a year and a few days after I got it. I contacted them and they offered me 20% off a new one if I sent the old one back. I wasn't impressed, especially since I replaced with with a cheap cougar keyboard from Amazon that has been going 4 years strong, doesn't look nearly as good though.
